| | JVA Kiss The Brain CD JVA Discography of CDs
This is JVA's 10th cd.Born in Los Angeles, Jim Walker performed with several bands before forming the quirky pop group, Lost Anthony, which existed in the late eighties. Good luck came when Phil Joanou, (director - U2: RATTLE AND HUM, GRIDIRON GANG) asked Jim to write a song for his first feature film, Universal Picture’s THREE O’CLOCK HIGH. Jim’s song SOMETHING TO REMEMBER ME BY (produced by legendary session drummer/producer Rick Marotta) was featured throughout the film. Walker spent the next few years with Marotta, writing songs and performing live. He also scored the films COVER GIRL MURDERS and DEAD AIR, plus episodes of HBO’S - TALES FROM THE CRYPT and Fox’s - ON THE SHORE. After brief signings with RCA and Geffen Records, Jim moved to Portland, Oregon where he met uber-musician Tim Ellis. The two handsome men began working as the mighty acoustic power-duo called JIM WALKER / TIM ELLIS, and under the recording band name JVA. Jim has released nine cds of original music on his own independent label THON, including the brand new “KISS THE BRAIN” (2006). Jim and Tim also co-scored the modern dance project ETHOS.The duo has opened for Crash Test Dummies, Little Feat, Karla Bonoff, Boz Scaggs, Warren Zevon, and others. John Denver's music always had a warm, home-spun quality to it, so it isn't surprising that his 1975 holiday effort, Rocky Mountain Christmas, is a wonderfully low-key and friendly Christmas album. Divided between classic carols and new numbers, such ...

| | Innocence Mission Befriended CD (2003)
Kiss The Brain album
$12.19 With 2003's Befriended, the Innocence Mission continue the organic, supremely tasteful folk-pop first crafted on 1999's Birds of My Neighborhood. Added to the wood-and-glass aesthetic are occasional traces of ambient synth strings, or a sun-soaked, delirious vibrato guitar. Lyrics of timorous optimism and familial devotion are woven into cascades of upright bass, brushes and tambourine, the tinkling ghost of a piano, and the snowy hollow-body electric guitar of Don Peris. Primary songwriter Karen Peris' impeccable sense of melody is carried out by her distinct voice, one of delicate timbre and piercing ...

$25.35 CD of The Week - March 8 to 14, 2004Wendy McNeillSuch a Common Bird(Indie / Spirit River Distribution) As Reviewed by CKUA StaffEdmontonian Wendy McNeill has released her third official album entitled Such a Common Bird. The irony of the title is incredible as McNeill is the most uncommon of those who speak in song. McNeill sounds as if she was cast aside from a Paris bordello in the mid 30s because her stage show was too depressing. In fact the song "The Sparrow" almost mirrors that statement."The Sparrow" is a deep lyrical yet twisted piece of art. The songs upbeat accordion based music contrasts ...
| | Fran Betlyon Casio Tapes CD (2006)
Kiss The Brain CD music
$10.15 Fran first collaborated with her older brother Seth at a Casio keyboard when she was only 7. They wrote funny songs and made mixed tapes of their creations. But the siblings grew in very different directions musically: Fran pursued musical theater up until college, and Seth became a heavy metal artist. Needless to say, both had to go on quite a funky journey until they could make music together again. It was not until the age of 22 that Fran started to take her songwriting seriously and learn the guitar to move the process along. She turned in her tap shoes, quit musical theater and was off to find her own voice. Fran played some covers at bars during college, but it was not until she graduated and moved to Boston that the songs started flowing ...
| | Johnny Gidley Songs Of Edgar Allan Poe CD (2006)
Kiss The Brain music CDs
$13.15 Johnny Gidley, a farm boy from Salado, Texas, grew up listening to the music of the 60’s and in particular, The Beatles. He formed his first band, Johnny & The Silvertones, in 1964 with fellow high school classmates Berry Evans, Tom Brown and Harold Mersiovsky. The group fast became one of the most popular groups in Central Texas releasing their first single “Got No Love’ in 1966 under the tutelage of Joe Treadway on TSM Records. And then Johnny was off to the U.S. Navy in 1967 to serve on the U.S.S. Cabildo but upon his return rejoined the group in 1969. The group had been renamed The Buccaneers by then and was being managed and booked by J.E. Brown, the bass players father. After a seven-month stint as the house band at the old S & S Club in Temple, Texas the group disbanded but later regrouped with only the bass player Tom Brown as an original member.Johnny was married in 1971 and began a solo career playing a variety of venues throughout central Texas. He worked as a stock clerk, auto sales person, and bookkeeper for various businesses to support his young family which had become four by 1977. He became the managing editor of his hometown newspaper The Salado Village Voice in 1980 and wrote a weekly column called From The Prairie Land in which many of his poems were published. Throughout the years he continued to write songs and perform in local clubs, restaurants and special events. After a very painful breakup of his family in 1985 he was lead to contemporary Christian music and began writing worship music. He lead praise and worship services for the singles class at First Baptist Church in Belton, Texas and released his first cassette tape Joy & Tears in 1988 and then his next one entitled ALL in 1991. In 2005 Johnny re-released ALL as a CD entitled A Life of Endurance adding two new songs to the ...
