After a bad experience with Blue Thumb Records and some time in legal limbo, Dave Mason signed with Columbia and released these two albums. Mellower than Mason's earlier work, 1973's IT'S LIKE YOU NEVER LEFT recalls the confessional singer-songwriter work of James Taylor or Joni Mitchell. From the opening "Baby...Please" to the tender title track closing the album, Mason's singing and playing are gently soulful and the soft rock songs are uniformly attractive.
The somewhat more rocking DAVE MASON features a fiery rendition of "All Along the Watchtower" that remains a late-night FM radio staple. Elsewhere, Mason lets loose some of his best guitar playing on meaty, substantial songs like the surprisingly forceful "Show Me Some Affection," and the lengthy closer "You Can't Take it When You Go." Both albums are essential for any Dave Mason fan.
Two original LPs available for the first time on one CD originally released in the early `70s. Dave Mason was, along with Stevie Winwood, the founder member of Traffic back in the `60s and wrote their second hit single 'Hole In My Shoe'. After leaving Traffic he embarked on a successful solo career and is still recording and touring to this day. Helping out Dave Mason on these solo albums were Graham Nash, Jim Keltner, Carl Radle, Stevie Wonder, along with the cream of the west coast session players.

It's Like You Never Left/Dave Mason CD music
$14.19 Even by the most lackadaisical release schedule, three decades is a bit of a wait between a group's first and second albums. Of course, this pause in the discography of progressive-country cult heroes the Flatlanders can be explained by the fact that each of the three members spent the time in the middle becoming respected solo singer-songwriters. ...
| | Souther-Hillman-Furay Band CD (1974) Souther Hillman Furay Band
It's Like You Never Left/Dave Mason music CDs
$9.69 When David Geffen convinced Richie Furay, Chris Hillman, and J.D. Souther to join forces to form a country-rock supergroup, it seemed like an inspired suggestion. Crosby, Stills & Nash's folk-rock had scored big with a similar idea, while bands such as the Eagles, who recorded for Geffen's Asylum Records, had made some waves commercially in recent years. But despite high expectations along with the history of their members, the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band's 1974 eponymous debut ...

It's Like You Never Left/Dave Mason songs
$9.25 Starting out as Dan Fogelberg's backing band, Fool's Gold decided to strike out on their own with this eponymous disc. Full of high harmony and easy country-rock tunes, Fool's Gold will warm the hearts of anyone who is a fan of such bands as the Eagles or Poco. Highlights include "Rain, Oh Rain," "Rollin' Fields and Meadows," and a cover of Fogelberg's own "Old Tennessee." Helped out by such friends ...

Among the boy-band brigade, BB Mak is a rarity--a group that plays its own instruments. The band's sophomore outing INTO YOUR HEAD continues down the same path of jangly guitars and killer harmonies that made its debut such a success. Unlike their peers who all seem to worship at the altar of Michael Jackson, this trio of ...

It's Like You Never Left/Dave Mason album
$26.95 Everything about this triple-disc set screams "classic" -- the scope, the rarities, the previously unreleased tracks, the packaging -- but most of all the music, Loren MazzaCane Connors' uniquely beautiful form of contemplative avant-blues. Call it experimental or primal, atonal or melodic, the man's music stands beyond such categories. ...
