Blonde Women album
$6.75 Neil Diamond's revisiting of the 1927 Al Jolson classic THE JAZZ SINGER (the first film to feature synchronized sound) keeps to the story of the original film; a young Jewish man turns his back on his heritage in an attempt to make it big in show business. Naturally, Diamond penned the music for his version of THE JAZZ SINGER himself, and the soundtrack was a phenomenal commercial success. Three of the songs here should be instantly familiar to anyone who drew a breath in the early '80s: the tender ballad "Hello Again," the haunting, swirling "Love On the Rocks," and the swelling patriotism of "America."
In between are the hand-clapping groovers "You Baby" and "Amazed and Confused," the melancholic waltz of "Summerlove," and traditional Jewish songs like "Kol Nidre." Elaborate instrumentation and arrangements (the songs are richly outfitted with strings) add to the surge and power of Diamond's performances, and while the film itself may have faded into obscurity, the soundtrack has not. THE JAZZ SINGER remains one of Diamond's best-loved post-'70s efforts.

| | Harry Belafonte To Wish You A Merry Christmas CD (1962)
Blonde Women CD music
$6.09 Digitally remastered by Dick Baxter (1990, BMG Recording Studios, New York, New York).
A reissue of LPM-1887 from 1958 with different liner art, but identical otherwise. The original was only issued in mono, so it is likely RCA decided that while they were issuing the stereo masters, they'd update the artwork to include Belafonte's photogenic presence. ~ Cary Ginell
Considering Belafonte's previous talent for breathing life into well-worn folk standards, this album is a disappointment. As a rule, Christmas albums during this period were little more than assembly line productions of the same old holiday tunes ...

$9.79 It is said that a truly great comedian can draw not only laughter, but also tears from their audience. This is certainly true of Charlie Chaplin, and is no less true of Jimmy Durante, a man whose ...
| | Essential Neil Diamond CDs (2001) Remastered
Blonde Women songs
$15.95 Recorded between February 1966 and October 2001. Includes liner notes by David Wild.
Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sony Music Studios, New York, New York).
2001 gave Neil Diamond fans plenty to cheer about. A new album of all-original studio material (THREE CHORD OPERA), a speaking and singing cameo in the bawdy film SAVING SILVERMAN, and the hit-packed anthology THE ESSENTIAL NEIL DIAMOND. This two-disc set chronologically traces the Brooklyn native's career path over the span of four decades. Packed with mono versions of classic '60s hits, Disc One alone would be a considerable canon for the average musician, thanks to songs like "Solitary Man," "Cracklin' Rosie," "Song Sung Blue," "Kentucky Woman," "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon," "Sweet Caroline," and "I'm A Believer." For Diamond, this was just a start, as he leapt to MOR god-like status via his duet with fellow Erasmus High alumnus Barbra Streisand ("You Don't Bring Me Flowers") and other sentimental sides including "Heartlight," "Love On The Rocks," "September Morn," and the patriotic anthem "America".
A number of in-concert cuts quickly dispel any doubts that Diamond's skills are equally as impressive on stage as ...

$6.69 As smooth as a bow on strings and as crisp as fingers on a fretboard, T.C.’s pitch and tone are as clear as musical notes written on paper. T.C., short for truth and creativity, is the singer- songwriter with the ability to craft lyrics and vocalize harmonies that become a chorus in the consciousness of the listener. Born in Brooklyn, NY and moving to southern Connecticut, ...
