Starring Anatole Litvak NTSC RC-0 An intrepid military police investigator doggedly pursues a Nazi general he believes to be responsible for a particularly brutal murder. Meanwhile, the general's young aid is unjustly accused of the crime. A political murder mystery set in Nazi-occupied Poland and postwar Paris, NIGHT OF THE GENERALS follows a military investigator, General Grau (Omar Sharif), on his inquiry into a prostitute's murder that has unexpectedly led him to three prime suspects (Peter O'Toole, Donald Pleasence, and Charles Gray)--all generals in the German army. Two years after the murder in Warsaw, Grau is transferred to Paris, where he confronts the man he believes to be the murderer--who is busy framing one of the other generals for the crime. When Paris detective Inspector Morand (Philippe Noiret) gets involved, more than one plot is uncovered in this tense drama that parallels World War II's mass murder with the individual actions of its participants. Director Anatole Litvak's film is based on the best-selling novel by Hans Helmut Kirst. The film was originally titled LA NUIT DE GÉNÉRAUX.
NIGHT OF THE GENERALS forms part of a loosely connected trilogy of wartime suspense films that includes John Frankenheimer's THE TRAIN and Rene Clement's IS PARIS BURNING?
Maurice Jarre composed the soundtrack for all three of the films in the loosely connected trilogy: NIGHT OF THE GENERALS, THE TRAIN, and IS PARIS BURNING?
Donald Pleasence is famous with younger generations for his portrayal of the psychiatrist in HALLOWEEN.

Review Movie superb. However the copies would not play at all on a Sanyo, Coby, and my HP Computer. The Coby showed on the screen Wrong Disc. So I have to be satisfied with the VHS tapes in my posession; which are getting old. Submitted by gising (Vancouver, Washington) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 2 of 3 found this helpful.
intriguing I first saw this film when I was a kid,and it is still fascinating. The story takes place in WW2,fro german occupied Poland,to France, then to post war Germany.yet,it is not a war movie per se,but a tense thriller/murder mystery.Peter O Toole does a refined yet very bravura performance as an up and coming young German general who is an expert in quelling urban unrest in Warsaw.Omar Sharif is the relentless German police investigator who wants to ask him some questions about a few murdered prostitutes. With an all star cast which includes Donald Pleasance and Tom Courtnay, and a wonderful soundtract by Maurice Jarre, this is an enjoyable film Submitted by snoggy (Houston,Tx) Was This Review Helpful? Who did it? I was watching "The Night of the General" and had to leave early. Omar Shrief and the generals just arrived in Paris together and I never found out who the murderer was. Can you fill me in? I can guess but it is better if I knew for sure. Submitted by lsckkjd (Las Vegas NV) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$9.69 WWII. The "Blue Max", a coveted medal for achievement in flying, is ruthlessly sought by Peppard, a poor-boy German soldier who climbs out of the trenches and into the aristocratic air force. He is met with prejudice by the other contestants, wealthy snobs who look down upon his low economic stature. When he claims the title, he earns the respect of the General and the General's wife (Andress), who wants to repay him in ways that the General might not appreciate. Peppard, on the other hand, does. Fantastic aerial combat highlights the film, although the scenes between the two lovers don't hurt matters much.

$16.69 This kinetic horror/action hybrid stars Tak Sakaguchi as Prisoner KSC2-303, a criminal who has just escaped from a maximum security prison. Heading to the Forest of Resurrection to meet up with some gangsters, KSC2-303's escape plan soon veers off course when an argument with one of the gangsters leads KSC2-303 to shoot him. Worse still, KSC2-303 finds out the hard way that when you kill something in the Forest of Resurrection, it does not stay dead. Things get even more complicated when all the dead people the gangsters have buried in the forest begin coming back to life and packing heat.
