| | Mountain Climbing! CD - Import Mountain Discography of CDs
When 1970 began, New York hard rockers Mountain were one of the most promising new bands. By the year's end, due to their exceptional sophomore effort, CLIMBING, they were one of the US's premier rock outfits. After a 1969 debut (while the album was titled MOUNTAIN, it was credited solely to Leslie West) led to a highly coveted spot in the original Woodstock festival, the band was thrust into the spotlight, and it delivered on its follow-up recording.
In addition to West on guitar and vocals, and bassist Felix Pappalardi (a former producer for Cream), new drummer Corky Laing was enlisted, creating one of the most powerful hard rock rhythm sections of the early-'70s. CLIMBING remains Mountain's crowning achievement, chock full of classic rock nuggets--"Mississippi Queen," "Theme for an Imaginary Western," "Never in My Life," "For Yasgur's Farm," and "Boys in the Band."
Includes a booklet with authoritative and extensive liner notes by Chris Welch.
Principally recorded at The Record Plant, New York, New York in 1970. Originally released on Windfall (4501). Includes liner notes by Leslie West, Corky Laing.
Mountain: Leslie West (vocals, guitar); Felix Pappalardi (guitar, piano, bass, background vocals); Steve Knight (piano, organ, Mellotron, bells); Corky Laing (drums, percussion).

Climbing! album
$9.65 Released in 1973 and now regarded as an important transitional album in Fleetwood Mac's long march towards superstardom, MYSTERY TO ME featured the lineup of Mick Fleetwood, John and Christine McVie, singer/guitarist Bob Welch and guitarist Bob Weston. The hiring of Welch had angered original guitarist Danny Kirwan and after a 1972 gig, the volatile Kirwan went berserk backstage and was fired. ...
| | Who Sell Out CD (1967) Remastered
Climbing! CD music
$6.55 This 1995 reissue of THE WHO SELL OUT includes songs and jingles not available on the original version.
Originally released on Track (612002/613002). Released in the U.S. on Decca (4950/74950) in 1968.
Only three albums into its recording career, the Who had already begun to distance itself from its proletarian R&B beginnings. Here, songwriter Pete Townshend follows up on the rock-opera idea he had introduced on A QUICK ONE with the extended, multi-part composition "Rael" and would later expand upon with TOMMY. The band had also begun exploring the form of the concept album. The songs are connected by bits of fake radio commercials and brass fanfares, and there's a little of everything thrown into the mix. All-out rockers like the vengeful "I Can See For Miles" vie for the listener's attention ...
| | Hot Tuna CD (1970) Remastered
Climbing! music CDs
$7.59 Recorded live at the New Orleans House, Berkeley, California on September 16, 1969. Includes liner notes by Jeff Tamarkin.
It is only fitting that Hot Tuna's self-titled 1969 debut (also known as RECORDED LIVE) would be an in-concert, all-acoustic set. The band would make themselves one of rock & roll's top road dogs during their lengthy career, and would return to acoustic work time and time again. Jefferson Airplane members Jorma Kaukonen (guitar/vocals) and Jack Casady (bass) launched this side project to co-exist with their full-time job with the band, while musically getting back to their folk/acoustic roots.
The CD reissue adds five songs to the original track listing, rounding out such highlights as "Hesitation Blues" (which would become a stage staple for Tuna), Reverend Gary Davis's "Death Don't Have No Mercy," and "Winin' Boy Blues." There is a great sense of ease and rapport between Kaukonen and Casady, and though the sound is quite minimal--the duo plays alone save some harmonica work from Will Scarlett--HOT TUNA remains one of the band's most satisfying ...
| | Chicago: At Carnegie Hall CDs (1971) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Climbing! songs
$30.49 After issuing three consecutive studio double LPs, Chicago topped themselves with this four-album live box set. As the title suggests, At Carnegie Hall, Vols. 1-4 (Chicago IV) (1971) finds the band at the venerable New York City venue during a five-night stand (April 5-April 10) in the spring of 1971. The septet -- which includes the respective talents of Terry Kath (lead guitar/vocals), Robert Lamm (keyboards/vocals), Peter Cetera (bass/vocals), Danny Seraphine (drums), Lee Loughnane (trumpet/vocals), James Pankow (trombone), and Walter Parazaider (woodwinds/vocals) -- were at their unquestionable peak of initial popularity. Their previous three double LPs continued extended runs on the pop album chart and likewise spawned a number of hit singles. So by the time the group hit the Big Apple for these shows, ...

Climbing! music CDs
$7.69 Initially introduced to the world via an appearance on labelmate Aaron Carter's 2001 outing OH AARON, teen female quintet No Secrets further assaulted the charts with their 2002 self-titled outing. Not unlike Carter's nepotistic link via N*Sync brother Nick, No Secrets came into being when group member Carly was inspired to form a group after viewing a Christina Aguilera Christmas special. Close friend Jade and her cousin Erin were added to the mix. Angel was found via an ad and she in turn recruited her friend Jessica. With all the parts in place, the gals succeeded in helping create a mix of bubbly beats and sugar-sweet hooks. These ear-candy merchants quickly found their estrogen-charged anthem "That's What Girls Do" being used in The Powerpuff Girls Movie along with an infectious cover of Kim Wilde's "Kids In America" plucked for both that film and JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS. Like fellow teen ...

Climbing! CD music
$12.95 Not to be confused with an EP of the same name (and released the same year), "Get Steady" is the full-length debut by the New York City quartet, Jonny Lives. Usually when a new band offers an EP before a full-length, a few non-album tracks will be featured. But this turns out not to be the case with the "Get Steady" full-length, as all of the EP's five tracks are included -- making the earlier release completely obsolete. Either way, the highlights of the EP also turn out to be the highlights here -- singer/guitarist/songwriter ...
