Musiq--formerly Musiq Soulchild--is one of the foremost figures in the neo-soul movement, as he deftly blends hip-hop-infused production and gangsta-lite loverman braggadocio with a vintage soul-funk feel that's scarce in contemporary R&B. Even when LUVANMUSIQ hits a club-bangin' apex, the classic grooves of his native Philadelphia are never far behind, as best heard on the album's debut single, "B.U.D.D.Y.," and "Makeyouhappy," which both swing with infectious T.S.O.P.-inspired string and horn lines over boom-bap beats. During the album's more sensual moments, Musiq recalls City of Brotherly Love soul icons the Delfonics, particularly on the album-closing "Lullaby." Though firmly rooted in his own time, Musiq respectfully cherry-picks the finest aspects of his city's musical past for a touch of class. Musiq Soulchild Luvanmusiq Songs Luvanmusiq Music Review Average Rating: (4.2 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews My, my, my Musiq I've got each of this guy's past albums & I've been an avid follower of his career(or should I say Musiq). When I heard B.U.D.D.Y on Metro fm, I was instantly taken back to a time when I was a ten-year old lad when Ini Kamokaze's 1994 banger "The Hotstepper" was a South African township anthem. Then I coppped it and I was sent into a trance by the gospel-infused "Betterman". On Ms Philadelphia he embraces that Philly culture he so rudely dissociated himself from in a Metro fm phone interview & abruptly cancelled his tour to S.A in true diva fashion. I have to confess that Mr Talib Johnson doesn't produce any surprises on this record. He however has one more track that's worth mention and that's "MakeyouHappy" which is somehow remniscent of "Solong" from Juslisen. Overall, don't expect anything novel from this album but the production is still good nonetheless. Submitted by Tulani (Cape Town, SA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Shimmering Brilliance Well he has done it again, it took him 4 years but it has been worth the wait. This guy has been my favorite male singer for a number of years and now I have no qualms about saying so. Where do I start about this one? Right away I found myself repeating “Takeyouthere", "Lullaby", "Greatestlove". These three songs represent Musiq at his absolute best. This is how good music (forget all the pestilent labels for a moment) is supposed to sound. This level of music is written and crafted, not merely "produced". As I write this, "Teachme" is making the rounds on the radio, very encouraging. Supporting the aforementioned songs are the equally interesting "Thequestions", "Makeyouhappy" and "Millionaire". Some don't like the one word theme that he uses for everything, all really trivial when the body of work is this good! This CD is a must buy as I really can't say enough about this guy’s talent. Album of the year! This album is top notch. I'm a musician and it puts out the real energy of a man truly feels for a woman. This album should be in every man thats in love or trying to love. My favorite song has to be "Betterman". It came at a perfect time for me and my situation. Thanks a lot Musiq, I couldn't have said any better. To Musiq, keep the music a little more original and fresh. Submitted by titusaross (Arlington, Texas) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Purchase Luvanmusiq CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Mary J Blige Breakthrough CD (2005)
Luvanmusiq album
$10.49 The album's lead-off single, "Be Without You," a bittersweet slow jam, is representative of the album's themes, which focus on feelings of strength and weakness in love. But whether waxing romantic ("Can't Get Enough") or detailing the travails of the heart ("Baggage"), Blige lays down elastic R&B vocal lines that are second to none. Even a seemingly unlikely duet with Bono and U2 on "One" comes across ...

Luvanmusiq CD music
$8.99 More than three years after 2003's AND THEN, Joe (aka Georgia-born singer Joe Thomas) finally returned with another fine R&B outing, the much-delayed, highly anticipated AIN'T NOTHIN' LIKE ME. Boasting production by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Timbaland, and guest shots by Nas, Chamillionaire, and others, the album is a solid set of contemporary R&B with a sophisticated soul edge that is well-represented ...
| | 100% Ginuwine CD (1999)
Luvanmusiq music CDs
$6.25 Returning with a stellar sophomore album, Ginuwine picks up where his 1996 debut album left off. On 100% GINUWINE, he sounds prepared to break out into superstar pop status. Packed with lyrical passion and bomb beats, the soulful singer has found a maturity and depth to his music that is rare for a sophomore album. Produced mostly by Timbaland, 100% GINUWINE is everything a '90s R&B album should be. It contains a balance of ballads and head-nodders, with lyrics you'll want ...

| | Fernwood Rhythm 'N' Blues From Memphis CD (2003)
Luvanmusiq album
$18.09 In 1956 truck driver and musician Slim Wallace purchased a used Magnacorder recording machine and set up a little studio in his garage on Fernwood Street in Memphis. A year later, Fernwood Records was born, and for a decade or so the label (and studio) turned out some of the best early rock & roll and rockabilly around, and some pretty amazing R&B, as well, as this collection shows. The 32 tracks here are a complete delight, ranging from ragged Memphis soul pieces to deep gospel shouters, and that they exist at all is somewhat of a miracle, since all of Fernwood's masters are rumored to have been destroyed in the late '60s. Most of these tracks never saw anything past regional release, which is a shame because there is an awful lot to like here, including the wonderful "Down in the Alley" by the Lyrics, the funky and elegant "Now It's Alright" by Earl Forest, "Boogie Chilluns Playhouse" (complete with a greasy Stax groove) by Donnie Williams, two hard gospel soul pieces ("Everybody Ought to Serve the Lord" and "Going Home to Jesus") by Prophet G. Lusk, and the weird carnival teen pop of Barbara Perry's "Bobby Is a Bad Bad Boy." Transfers for this disc were probably made from vinyl sources (if the ...
