Florida-born but repping H-Town, Devin the Dude has garnered accolades and admiration from diverse corners of the hip-hop world--from Dr. Dre to Scarface to DJ Hi-Tek--for his unique brand of smoothed-out Dirty South funk. On his fourth solo long-player, WAITIN' TO INHALE, Devin continues to do his thing, with that same molasses-thick production full of tight piano and synthesizer-heavy samples, as well as his trademark comically perverse lyrics. The subject matter hasn't changed at all as the Dude once again produces a potent sex-obsessed, smoke-filled, liquor-drenched masterpiece. At least he isn't just talking about guns and killing black people. Finally, someone that stands out in today's commercial rap, lying, ignorant crap. Devin always stands out from the next man. On the other note, Andre 3000 ate up every single lyric on the album. He always said that his one line will eat up a whole album. Devin is the dude, but still got gobbled.

This album is one of the best I've heard in years. I rate it as my top 10 album's of all-time. The dude is the man. His lyrics are extremely talented.

DIS HAS BEEN THE TRILLEST CD I HEARD IN A LONG TIME. PEOPLE BE SWEATIN LIL WAYNE BUT DEVIN the DUDE ON TOP RIGHT NOW WIT THIS ALBUM. I LISTEN TO A VARIETY OF MUSIC. IF HE KEEP COMING WIT ALBUMS LIKE DIS THEN HE CAN TAKE OVER THE GAME ALONG WIT UGK AND RAP A LOT RECORDS.

8ball & MJG (or Eightball & MJG, as they used to call themselves) have been the kings of Memphis rap for quite some time now, even going so far as to refer to themselves as "living legends." That's not exactly an overstatement. They've inspired countless Southern rappers and helped to foster a strong hip-hop community in their home city, and now, signed to Bad Boy Records, they're able to reach an even wider audience. Their second album on Diddy's label, Ridin High, is a super-produced tribute to the things the duo love best: drugs, money, and women (there's even a song titled "Alcohol Pussy Weed"). From the first single, "Relax and Take Notes" (featuring a Biggie line from "Dead Wrong," not any new material from the deceased rapper), to "Worldwide" to "30 Rock" (the only track to have a non-Southerner guest, this one being Mr. Combs himself), 8 and MJ rhyme their way through heavy synth crunk beats and smooth slow jams.
