On 2007's FIVE SCORE & SEVEN YEARS AGO, the eagerly awaited follow-up to its '04 breakthrough album, MMHMM, Relient K unveils another assured and energetic set. Helmed by renowned producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Vendetta Red), the record presents the Ohio-based punk-pop act at its vibrant best, whether running through the sunny, piano-driven "Must Have Done Something Right" (which features a Beach Boys-like vocal interlude) or the moody, urgent "Forgiven." As on MMHMM, the group, fronted by amiable vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Matt Thiessen, hints at Christian themes without ever getting blatantly religious, keeping Relient K in that elite tier of CCM/mainstream crossover acts that also includes Switchfoot.
Relient K: Matthew Thiessen (vocals, various instruments); Matthew Hoopes (vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin); Jonathan Schneck (vocals, guitars); John Warne (vocals, bass guitar); David Douglas (vocals, drums).
Alternative Press (p.178) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "[R]are gems await those willing to dig deeper, like the dark and quirky 'Faking My Own Suicide'..." Kerrang (Magazine) (p.49) - "[B]ig on enthusiasm and happy choruses....50 minutes of aural bubblegum." Relient K Five Score And Seven Years Ago Songs Five Score And Seven Years Ago Music Five Score And Seven Years Ago Music Review Average Rating: (4.8 out of 5 stars) I Didn't Think They Could Match "Mmhmm"! But I am happy to say that I was wrong. This CD simply rocks.....and "Deathbed" is an epic "iceing on the cake" bonus. I have listened to music for over 40 years. IMHO, Relient K is the most creative, insightful & fun band I've ever heard. If they stick it out and continue down this amazing path, they have a chance to be something really special and a difference-maker in the music world. Definitely Did Something Right This is by far Relient K's bestest CD. Totallly alternative. The harmonies, the guitars, the tunes... everything. In my oppinion, it seems like they grew up in this latest album. I mean, the songs have the same cockiness and lyrical awesomeness, but on a more mature level. BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!! The Best Thing Dude, this CD rocks! My favorite songs are numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9,11,12,13,and 14. The bestest song on the disc is "Crayons can melt on use for all i care". Do you know any other songs that are 12 seconds long? Anyways, its a good Christian Punk Rock CD. Submitted by me (Wherever) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Awesome fresh sounds! This cd is great! This CD isn't very punk rock but some of the songs are. I would say they're best CD. Submitted by rockiesmoke_111 (LA, California) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

$8.55 What is Audios?By: MuzikMan (Associate Writer)Trying to explain what Spooky Pie sounds like is like analyzing a psych patient by the name of Sybil, they have so many different personalities you never know which one is going to show up for dinner. That is just fine and dandy with me because I like something out of the ordinary or the off center alternative in music. If you look at the cover of this CD you will feel you are watching a horror movie, then when you open the CD the inside cover shows three widows giving their loved ones a shot in the head and an early grave, on the back cover there are three dead men lying in a nice neat row. So what is the moral of the story? Happiness is a warm gun, what else? The CD comes housed in a...you guessed it, a blood ...

Longtime Aerosmith fans are likely to quibble about the set list here. How to pare down one of rock's all-time greatest and longest-running rock bands to 18 songs? Even so, 2006's DEVIL'S GOT A NEW DISGUISE: THE VERY BEST OF AEROSMITH does an admirable job, offering a single-disc crash course in the group's biggest and best-known tunes.
Ranging from the their 1970s heyday throughout their astonishing late '80s comeback and beyond, ...

| | Velvet Juggernaut CD (2006)
Five Score And Seven Years Ago music CDs
$11.19 Initially, Velvet's sophomore set, Juggernaut, sounds deceptively simple, comprising a dozen pop/rockers that run the gamut from dreamy and breezy to punchy, a duplicity compounded by the set's understated production. But listen again, and the complexity of the band's sound, their subtle diversity of style, and their excellent musicianship begins to come into sharper focus. Take the opening track, "This Is for You," which starts out as an Elastica-styled staccato song; but then one notices the driving R&B bass riff, the splash of gothic guitar lead, and the chiming guitar that eventually bursts forth in all its glory.
Velvet excel at these subtle twists and unexpected turns, transmuting familiar styles and sounds right under your ears. "Girl Fan," for instance, echoes with the lush new romantic atmosphere of the Passions' "I'm in Love With a German Film Star," but intertwines a sharp rhythm and an elegant, ...
| | Gong You (Radio Gnome Invisible, PT. 3) CD (1974)
Five Score And Seven Years Ago songs
$11.09 YOU is the final installment in Gong's legendary "Radio Gnome Trilogy," and it marks an important turning point for the band. By 1974, the psychedelic hippie/folk-rock element of the sound that was leader Daevid Allen's most important contribution was beginning to disappear. In its place was a more sophisticated musical vision that owed as much to jazz-rock fusion as to fellow space rockers like Pink Floyd or Hawkwind. Ironically, this ...
