On 2007's DON'T TELL COLUMBUS, his third album for the Bloodshot label, Graham Parker continues the remarkable streak of records that he began on '04's YOUR COUNTRY. Although COLUMBUS lacks the punch of the preceding SONGS OF NO CONSEQUENCE, it finds the beloved British pub-rock icon comfortably situated in Dylanesque singer-songwriter mode. (In fact, the buoyant, biting "Stick to the Plan" sounds like it could be an outtake from Dylan's MODERN TIMES). While many of the tunes on COLUMBUS have a catchy, upbeat feel, they are often lined with fierce or melancholy lyrics, proving that, three decades into his career, Parker proudly and assuredly maintains his signature caustic style.

Graham Parker Don't Tell Columbus Songs Don't Tell Columbus Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) GP is like a fine wine! He just keeps getting better with age, gone is the young man rebellion now it's a middle aged rebellion, still full of the fire, GPs songs just continue to improve over the years, like many of his contemporaries (pay attention Elvis!). Subtle and Spectacular I get the sense my fellow critics are longtime GP fans, as am I. This is a wonderful cd with music and performances that range from subtle to spectacular. For example a couple songs have a mere "hint" of Hammond B-3 organ, a lovely touch that adds just the right bit of seasoning. If you've been listening to Graham Parker music for a long time, you won't be disappointed. You newbies won't be disappointed either. Submitted by racewaybob (indy) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Don't Tell Columbus CD music
$14.79 Bassist Bruno Raberg performs seven of his originals with his six-horn nonet and leads his band through a pair of coherent free improvisations ("Sculpture IV" and "Sculpture V") on this complex but very listenable set. While Raberg is originally from Sweden, he currently lives in Boston. His nonet is full of notable players, including guitarist Mick Goodrick, trumpeter Phil Grenadier, and saxophonist Donny McCaslin. Even the lesser-known names have plenty of experience playing in major jazz groups in the U.S. Raberg's rhythms, melody lines, and harmonies are often quite tricky, but these musicians are quite capable of handling the potentially difficult material with ease and understanding. They take concise solos and contribute to the dense but clean ensembles, resulting in a rewarding CD of challenging ...

Don't Tell Columbus songs
$25.35 Timmaris has been writing and performing music for most of her life. She has appeared on national television and radio, and has traveled the country both as a soloist and with various musical friends. She has recorded several albums which contain many of her original songs both for children and adults. Her warm, rich voice, which has enchanted listeners for more than forty years, continues to satisfy and uplift all who hear her. The main comment people make about her singing is that she 'sings like an angel.'She currently lives in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California, where she teaches singing and song writing to children and adults, and makes regular appearances performing at children\'s hospital for the bereavement groups and other major events. The hospital uses her healing music for the bereaved families, and offers her CDs at their special services. She also sings with her band 'Portable Paradise' and does several performances a year for fund raising purposes and just to entertain. Timmaris\' latest accomplishment is the completion of her new CD 'When Angels Whisper. ' This was a dream in the making for many years. Here are some comments concerning this uplifting and consoling music. 'How beautiful! When the Lord wanted to find a way through the agency of a humanbeing to alleviate the devastating pain and sorrow that the tragedies of life sometimes bring, he created you. ''Your music uplifts and heals many here on earth and on higher realms ...
