Classic Slade
This has been a highly underrated album in decades, partly because of the punk wave that surged the music world at that time and partly because it is a more introspective recording. In any case, the Nobody's Fools has stood the test of time. It sounds as great now as it did 30 years ago. The title track is sheer energy and captures your attention immediately. "Do the Dirty" is more on the hard rock side and then there is a number of pure Slade tunes with a slide guitar, just listen to "Did ya mama ever tell ya"! There is a typical band's rocker "Get On Up" that can thrill the generic Slade fan and there is "All the World is a Stage" which is rather philosophical but still the same Slade! Highly recommended for those who like the genre and a must-have for a Slade fan. Andre Sokolnikov

decent album
this was not one of slades best moments in the 70s but beats anything they did after 1983, great album the only dissapointment with this series is SLADEST is not being reissued. that was the best album they did next to live 72 and SLAYED..... however there is great remastering here and great packaging long long overdue.......

Apparently America was fooled
No doubt about it, Slade was way ahead of their time. As witnessed in the mid-eighties, when Quiet Riot dipped into the Slade parade of songs to garner some sales. As for Slade's absence from the American charts, the mid-seventies was a time when musicians were mixing folk with country (John Denver, America, etc.) and pop was rolling into disco. As for the harder edge, America was captivated by KISS, Aerosmith and other things glam. However, you couldn't say Slade wasn't distinctive and very effective on the other side of the pond. Nobody's Fool was another example of the haunting, cavernous raunch that was the band's trademark. Besides the title track, the echo effect works well wth L.A. Jinx and The World's a Stage, with both songs driving in the fast lane with the aid of the the seventies fuzz box as the accelerator. It's only too bad that a few more cuts from Nobody's Fool didn't appear on the greatest hits package.

classic album
"Nobody'S Fools" has the world of its own. I still remember a vinyl record and a big cardboard envelope. It was back in the 70's. A lot has changed since then but not the impression that this album had on me. The title track will capture your attention. It is Slade's musical talent that produces the effect. "Do the Dirty" is a classic hard rock tune. Then you'll hear something like country rock, rhythm and blues, again hard rock. All the songs sound like Slade with its trade mark - Noddy Holder's vocal. The last phylosophical song "All the World is a Stage" reminds us of Shakespear but again the song is compeletely band's entity. Through the years I hear "The start and end of every story is the same but what comes in between you have yourself to blame. It makes no difference at all - just pick yourself up when you fall."
