(4 Customer Reviews)
On her 2007 album, MI VIDA LOCA, Jenni Rivera presents another rousing set of Mexican banda tunes. One of the few female performers in the style, Rivera imbues her songs with striking emotion, never allowing the robust, horn-driven arrangements to dominate the proceedings. Highlights of the album include the dramatic "Mirame" and her inventive English-language revamp of the disco classic "I Will Survive."

$12.25 Sophisticated ranchera music from this father-and-son team of its foremost contemporary exponents, EN VIVIO JUNTOS collects a double-album's-worth of greatest hits performed live before an adoring home crowd on the pair's sellout 2003 tour. There's sentimentality, dark jealousy, and feverish passion, frequently in the same song, plus the ...

Mi Vida Loca songs
$13.85 Since its formation in the Bronx, New York in 1994, Dominican boy band Aventura has been steadily expanding its sound toward a style that incorporates hip-hop, R&B, rock, merengue, and reggaeton, while still retaining strong traces of traditional bachata. GOD'S PROJECT is the culmination of Aventura's stylistic expansion, and is the group's most mature, diverse, and accomplished album.
The sounds of bachata--the quartet's foundation--are still ...
| | Jenni Rivera Parrandera, Rebelde Y Atrevida CD (2005)
Mi Vida Loca album
$8.49 Some angry young men and angry young women mellow with time. They reach their thirties, calm down, let go of their youthful angst (some of it, anyway), and tell the media, "Hey, I'm not the same person at 30 (or 35) that I was at 19. I'm just not." But Jenni Rivera, at least ten albums into her career, shows no signs of letting go of her angst and anger on Parrandera, Rebelde y Atrevida -- and from a creative standpoint, that's probably for the best because angry is something that she does extremely well. There is as much anger on Parrandera, Rebelde y Atrevida as you would find on Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill; Rivera, arguably, is banda's answer to Pill-era Morissette, and this 2005 release is full of bitter diatribes against all the desgraciados, infelices, y malditos cabrones who have done her wrong. What is a desgraciado, an infeliz, or a maldito cabrón? Well, those who speak español can tell you that it's the sort of guy Rivera lambasts on this album -- a guy who's a real SOB. The sort of guy who, sadly, never has a hard time getting a date (as shock jock Tom ...
| | Jenni Rivera Besos Y Copas Desde Hollywood CD (2006)
Mi Vida Loca CD music
$10.75 2006 was a very good year for bad girls in regional Mexican music. It was the year that Gloria Trevi (who became famous for rock en español and Latin pop) made her mariachi/ranchera debut with her hit "Ingrato" (which was much more in-your-face than the norteño version by Ninel Conde), and it was a year in which the equally atrevida Jenni Rivera continued to enjoy a great deal of publicity and came out with her live album Besos y Copas Desde Hollywood. Recorded at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, CA, this enjoyable disc captures the very Mexican-American perspective that Rivera brings to the table. Besos y Copas Desde Hollywood ...
