At the age of 22, Amy Grant took another step in her career by issuing her first Christmas album in 1983. It was a logical-enough release for a Christian performer, but also one that suggested she was an established headliner, an artist whose versions of standards like "The Christmas Song" and "Little Town" (aka "O Little Town of Bethlehem") would be interesting to listeners because she was singing them. In her carefully planned march to mass popularity, the album represented at least one tentative outreach in a musical direction Grant would not pursue. The leadoff track, "Tennessee Christmas," found her husband and co-writer, Gary Chapman, playing a pedal steel guitar on a song that seemed intended to probe the country market and that actually earned some country radio play. This CD was recorded at the OKLAHOMA OPRY RECORDING STUDIO in 1999. It was a cold, snowy winter night in February and we cut this entire album in one three hour session with NO overdubs. It's pretty much a "Live" recording. David Riggs is the guitar player. He used a G&L tele and a Laney 30 watt tube amp with no effects. David is one of the most talented men that I have ever worked with and very well could be the best "unknown" blues player in OKC or anywhere else for that matter. The drummer is my good buddy, Randy Mote. I taught Randy how to play drums when he was 11 years old. I don't think his parents have ever forgiven me for that. If you look up the word "energy" in the dictionary, you will find Randy's picture. He has the metabolism of a mongoose. Randy has incredible chops and you never have to worry about him "dragging". My name is Pastor Lynn Walker and I am the keyboard player/vocalist/songwriter. I am kicking bass with my left hand and playing piano/B-3 parts with my right hand. I never dreamed that we would get this album recorded in one night. In fact, I could barely talk that morning due to a bad cold. But God had a plan for us that night, a good plan, a plan to prosper us and not to harm us. You can HEAR the anointing in this album, and you may not like like my singing, but you will have to admit that it is not the voice of a sick man. "Intuition" is the second album release from Norwegian-born singer/songwriter Ann-Marita, and it continues to push the boundaries of modern country music where her 2004 self-titled debut left off. Backed up by some of Australia's top musicians and produced by guitar virtuoso Brett Garsed, Ann-Marita delivers an album rich in diversity and creativity. Unlike numerous country albums to date, this one tells the story of a life far from confined to the space of one's home town. From growing up in a Norwegian mining community north of the Arctic Circle, to coming of age as a foreign exchange student in the American Midwest, to singing party tunes on Swedish cruise ships, to being broke but hopeful, pounding the Los Angeles pavement, to building a new life and career in Melbourne, Australia, this girl has lived to tell all, and every little bit of experience has added its share to the heartfelt stories and soaring melodies on "Intuition". "As I was writing these songs, I realized there was a theme starting to form," Ann-Marita says. "There was a thread running through everything, tying the songs together.
