uhn sounds like Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Radiohead, Dashboard Confessional or James Blunt drunk and naked on the bathroom floor with a Mr. microphone and a half empty box of stale chocolates from valentines day 1988.February 28th 2002 uhn "at the time songwriter/frontman for Portland's surging alternative metal act Docile" sat down with Docile guitarist Dan Kuhen's out of tune 12 string acoustic and wrote 11 songs in just over 2 hours. These would be the first songs uhn ever wrote with guitar and the first collection soley inspired by the love of his life for 15 years. Three of these songs "empty vine, far tacoma and lie in a dream" survived the five years it took uhn to release in salt. uhn previously wrote all his work vocally, including classical symphonic pieces, country, industrial, pop, alternative metal and jazz compositions. In Salt is a collection of poems written of love, betrayal and redemption that weaves with the ebb and flow that love and loss always bring. It is a stark look at the desire to be wanted and the sadness of realizing what we truly desire is always seems to be just beyond our reach.Four tracks were written in the Ladd's Addition neighborhood of Portland, Oregon during daily sessions uhn held in his car, recording songs at first vocally with a handheld mini recorder and eventually with guitar via a laptop computer and condenser Mic. The track "Taste Your Lips" was written by uhn in 2001 and performed regularly while in Docile as more of a straight heavy metal ballad. The song has morphed into a psudo country western down tempo industrial ballad with an oddly timed evil sexy finish (which is probably too simplified of a description). All the songwriting and instrumentation on in salt was by uhn in Portland Oregon. Recorded at mediaPOUND Nov/Dec 2006.
