| | Skandalon Cause & Cure CD Skandalon Discography of CDs
Cause + Cure, released in 2004, was Skandalon’s first full-length project and a collaboration between founder Jeff Timpanaro and musician/producer Mark Townsend. With notable influences of industrial stalwarts Delerium and Skinny Puppy, Cause + Cure journeys through three distinct movements (all sans vocals). Tracks 1-5 feature exemplary industrial beats & grooves, while tracks 6-9 tour a more ambient structure. Blips, atmospheres, and fuzzy synth leads take you into the cavernous haze that is track 10 (Man Of Sorrows), an eleven minute hypnotic experience of desperation, beauty, and hope. Cause + Cure is not your father’s electronica. Most appropriately labeled as the “best practices” of the industrial/electronic music of the late 80s and early 90s, this work is presented in a post-modern context using current technology. JT’s influences from this period are found throughout Cause + Cure. Townsend’s contributions are also unmistakable not only in the programming, but in the eye-popping production and aural dynamic of the project. Note the killer wave manipulation in "Flakc" and "No One", the driving bass lines in "Levitationation" and "Help You Hurt Somebody", and the melodies and solos of "Xoire”. Cause & Cure
$9.59 Brandi has changed her alias from \"Brandi Winks\" to \"Porcelain Siren\". Brandi Winks combines the textures of industrial and experimental music with the emotion and lyrical qualities of alternative and indie rock. She is an independent artist from Syracuse, New York who writes, mixes and produces her own music. In 2005, Brandi released her first full-length album, \"Waiting To Be Born.\" She is currently working on her next album, \"Bright White,\" slated to be released within the year. Despite the tentative label, Pretty Shy Girl Music, Brandi is open to the interest of honest, dependable labels and/or companies that may compliment her unique style.A Review of \"Waiting To Be Born\"By: Joshua Heinrich, Grave Concerns E-zine Blending alternative, industrial, and ambient/ethereal elements, Brandi Winks brings a unique and diverse musical voice to the table on her debut album, Waiting To Be Born. Fairly well produced and arranged, with a particularly remarkable job of layering vocal melodies and using vocal effects, the disc presents a strong 11 song set (*cough* 12 if you include the hidden bonus track *cough*) that uses space and subtlety as effectively as sound and layering. The result falls somewhere between Tori Amos and Nine Inch Nails (more in a stylistic mesh than a \"Past the Mission\" sort of way) with a few darkwave/ethereal influences thrown in for good measure, excellent electronic percussion providing a framework for ambient ...

Cause & Cure
$9.85 Grant are an Oxford based musical collective based around former adult film actor and camel chiropodist Grant Baldwin, multi-instrumentalist and bonsai expert Martin Newton, and mysterious bass player Reg Driblo. Reg, a keen breeder of the rare West Bromwich Nodding Bantam, refuses to talk to the other two unless they call him Ulrich and makes them promise not to eat cheese on Tuesdays. He can only be contacted on the phone between the times of 01.03 and 01.07hrs.Grant formed in the mid 1990s, after singer Grant paid Martin thousands of pounds to let him carry his guitar case to the rehearsal studio. But only if it were dark and nobody could see. After a few years, they had amassed a great number of songs, at which point Grant unlocked the door and let Martin go home. Reg joined in 2002 after his therapist told him that music would help his recovery from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, a consequence of his harrowing experiences in the 1999 Cress Riots. Reg led the often dangerous and vicious confrontations with The Man to try and prevent the small green peppery plant being compulsorily incorporated in all egg sandwiches. The first album - 'What do you mean, weve got to finish this bloody thing?' - was released in 2003 to rave review by the Cheam Onanists Almanac. There was the odd disgruntled voice who claimed the album sounded glum- this is, of course, ridiculous as it is well known that Grant is officially the 3rd Funniest Man in Oxfordshire, and his 1034-page treatise On the Determination of the Flash Point (in degrees Kelvin) of Mixed- Matrix Solvents using the Pensky- Martin Closed Cup Method., is widely regarded as gut bustingly hilarious and pant-fillingly funnyThe overall musical direction of the guys is to hit things and shout. A lot.New album - 'Tudge! Stop fidgeting with that!' - takes the collective in to far more esoteric and sophisticated territory, as Grant has managed to incorporate elements of the notoriously difficult Samoan Reverse Nasal Crooning into their sound and Martin now turns the microphones on during recording sessions. This new album takes the collective into far more esoteric and sophisticated ...
