Fiji was formed in 2003 when Simon and Menk Schüttel bumped into Simone De Lorenzi in the streets of Berne. Rather than asking "Do you like my tight sweater?" she said "Voglio fare musica. Are you with me?". Simon and Menk have been part of the Swiss pop scene for a number of years with Smartship Friday . Now with Simone the trio made their Smartship Productions (incidentally also the name of their own record label) recording studio their home, where they spen most of their time performing, recording and mixing their uniquely powerful, highly personal, authentic and sexed-up electrorock with attitude and verve. ROSY, their first album, was released in March 2005. It features 10 tracks buzzing with love for eighties synth pop, dancefloor electro, pumping bass, intruiguing keyboards and classy femininity. A pleasure to listen to, highly danceable and infective, the album is a pop gem. It sold very well and appeared in several charts. In 2005 FIJI played for enthusiastic crowds at clubs and festivals. Amongst other places at the Jazz Festival in Montreux and the International Film Festival in Locarno. Energized by their glamorous live shows, filled with positive energy, enthusiasm, glamour and a straightforward rock 'n roll attitude, they launched themselves into writing new songs. Lyrics were penned, bass line that shook the neighbours were created, explosive electronic fat beats were put down and hunting keyboards were recorded. At the same time they continued to perform live, with an even bigger smile on their faces! LE LOUP is FIji's second album. It was released on the 24th December 2006. Entirely sung in French, it fuses electro pop with a punk rock edge. LE LOUP is upfront, pumping and confident with dark and intriguing corners. It features 11 songs that are sure to ignite any dancefloor. See FIJI live at their next concert - you won't forget it! Le Loup album
$9.59 The Four Horsemen were quite literally a shattered band come 1996. Five years on from their simplistic but infectious retro-rock debut, they'd been dropped by Def American, been abandoned by their main songwriter guiding force in founding guitarist Haggis, and, most heartbreaking of all, lost drummer Ken "Dimwit" Montgomery to a drug overdose. As the band's last remaining original members, it came down to guitarist Dave Lizmi and troubled singer Frank C. Starr (more on him later) to assemble a new lineup and attempt to shoulder the load themselves on the snidely named Gettin' Pretty Good at Barely Gettin' By. And they did an OK job. The album still featured much of the Four Horsemen's stripped-down, hard-rocking style, but standout cuts such as "Hot Rod" and the poignant "Song for Absent Friends" generally lacked the Southern Skynyrd flavor, and especially ...

$6.55 While only serious film buffs are likely to recall Hugh Hudson's role as the director of the Oscar-winning CHARIOTS OF FIRE, the Greek composer Vangelis became, and remained, a household name with his soundtrack for the 1981 film. At the time, the theme song was parodied as being excessively saccharin.

Le Loup songs
$12.79 "I do Lou Reed better than anybody, so I thought I'd get in on it," Reed says at one point during this double live set, and that seems to sum up the album's theme quite well. Recorded during a week of shows at New York's Bottom Line in 1978, Live: Take No Prisoners presents Lou Reed the Standup Comic, doing schtick on Patti Smith ("F*ck Radio Ethiopia, man! I'm Radio Brooklyn!"), political activism ("Give me an issue, I'll give you a tissue, and you can wipe my ass with it"), and the agony of playing "Walk on the Wild Side" ("It's not that I don't want to play your favorites, but there are so many favorites to choose from!") while occasionally pausing to play a song. ...

$11.49 The Journey Beyond the SourceBeginning in the late 60s legendary German band Tangerine Dream started forging a previously unheard world of otherworldly music and sound realized in large part through the use of Bob Moog's newly invented electronic synthesizer. Later, French composer Jean Michel Jarre created scintillating worlds of impossible rhythms and catchy melodies that found instant appeal. Meanwhile, American master synthesis Larry Fast proved that the new technology was equally at home in hard driving rock arrangements as well as in creating many-layered orchestral tour de forces ...and all points in between. As they were growing up, synth wizard and electronic engineer Dale Kay and multi-instrumentalist Wes Antczak were listening and taking inspiration. They spent their formative years learning their craft and building studios of their ...
| | Xenovibes Music From Another Land CD (2006)
Le Loup music CDs
$20.25 "Music From Another Land is more than techno pop flash, more than New Age noodling, and more than music from the Far East; it is exactly what the title says it is, and it is not to be missed."G Morris, evolution of media USA.Hot on the heels of “Shueh-li’s Xenovibes” (released Dec 2003/Jan 2004), “Music From Another Land” assembles in typical Shueh-li style, songs and instrumental compositions that bring together classical, ethic, rock, electronica, psychedelic rock and Latin rhythms with special guest Yamaha e-drummer John Anthony Martinez. XENOVIBES[FOREIGN+EXPRESSIONS]is the brainchild of Australian born Singapore show designer, Shueh-li Ong, who coined the word to explain her work as an instrument builder, composer, performer and producer. Not to be mistaken for just a chick singer, this multi-instrumentalist boldly fuses the sounds of the Chinese GuQin, the Russian theremin, extended synthesizer techniques, the tin-whistle and countless other magical sounds to evoke her signature siren songs.Besides being known for creating works with a distinctive style, Shueh-li is also recognized as an exponent of the theremin; she chose to study this instrument that is played by shaping precision hand movements in front of two antennas without touching it, and not use it as a gimic effect.“Only a few people were literally able to handle the instrument as far as composition and music making were concerned. Important players and composers of the Theremin are Russian Lydia Kavina … and Australian born Singapore artist Shueh-li with Xenovibes” ~ automatictext.com Germany.EXPERIMENTS IN THE HISTORY OF NEW MUSIC – EAST, WEST, ARCANE, NEW TECH.Shueh-li was born in Melbourne, Australia and received a Bachelor in Music at the Elder Conservatory studying piano with Stefan Ammer (formerly Professor of Piano at the Freiburg Academy of Music, Germany) and Music Technology under Tristram Cary (founder of the electronic music studio at the Royal College of Music LDN). This was followed by post-graduate studies in Interactive Multimedia Performance under Dr Jeff Pressing at LaTrobe University, Melbourne. Shueh-li’s trademark is in the way she puts her ‘sound’ together, using her instruments (east, west, arcane, classical and new technology) and her intimate knowledge of its building blocks.“(She) crafts textures, moods and sonicscapes. (Shueh-li) sees herself as one of the myriad results of the experiments in the long-term history of new music.” The Straits Times, Singapore.SINGAPORE’S 1ST AND ONLY DIVA OF THE THEREMIN“Singapore’s 1st and only diva of the theremin” (Straits Times Singapore) and Moog international artist Shueh-li, is currently in America with the concert version of Xenovibes and on a visa awarded only to “Artists of Extraordinary Ability”. Joining her as the performing core of XV ...
