Rarely can a group of musicians, individually unique in their performing careers, come together to meld into a band as true to the spirit as TRUE SPIRIT. Percussionist Victor Williams along with Guitarist John Grant maintain a fluid band roster, enlisting the talents of other concert and studio musicians. Williams and Grant joined in TRUE SPIRIT by Drummer Blues Web, Bassist Gary Grainger, Pianist Benjie Porecki, and Saxophonist Dave Fairall form a remarkably high energy group whose combined years of professional performing exceeds 30 years. The members of TRUE SPIRIT have played, recorded or toured with internationally known performers such as George Duke, Dennis Chambers, Celine Dion, John McLaughlin, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Najee, John Schofield, Bob Berg, and Vanessa Williams. For this project Williams and Grant enlisted the help of Najee on sax, Dennis Chambers on drums and Gregg Karukas on piano. Playing primarily adult contemporary music, a combination of groove, funk and jazz, TRUE SPIRIT is a very high-energy group whose musicians, individually and collectively, leave audiences begging for more. | | Pirate Jenny Never-Sea Land CD (1996)
True Spirit CD music
$18.99 With this album, Pirate Jenny has created a shimmering, tightly woven cloth of haunting, angst-filled ballads of longing and loneliness such as "Never-Sea Land", intertwined with giddy, darkly humorous tracks such as "Captain Slaymore" - a rich study of a man too long at sea.I'm a devoted fan of Pirate rock in all it's incarnations (Pirate Jenny, Hucklescary Finn, and now, Captain Bogg & Salty), but I find that this album transcends the pure delightfulness of the band's other albums and appeals to me on a deeper level. Although I love them all, this is the one that brings out the dreamer in me. So, for all you land-locked lads & lasses stuck in this hum-drum modern world, "Slip off your boots and put on a paper crown, you'll find that you're not so boring." --Review by Terran McCanna, 2003With its layers of acoustic guitars, tender love songs and multi-track vocals, Never-Sea Land might just be the Pet Sounds of pirate music. This Portland Quartet spent months in the studio crafting tracks around a singular theme, setting drifting harmonies against a gorgeous piano backdrop on "Galleons of War," juxtaposing a xylophone with a Byrds-like guitar riff in "Smiling Skull" and copping '70s power chords to evoke the evil "Captain Slaymore." Rather that relying on schtick, Pirate Jenny earnestly tackles British pop and American rock while singing chanteys ...

| | Kristin Korb Why Can't You Behave CD (2006)
True Spirit songs
$15.19 Life really could be very simple. We could be quiet, operate within the confines of rules, and color in the lines. But that would be boring! Kristin Korb is a rebel like you, not the 'paint her nails black and scream bloody murder at the world' kind of rebel. She's also not quite subtle enough either for her devious personality. She's the quiet kind of rebel who looks for trouble in the unglamorous parts of life, she speaks out against injustice, helps the less fortunate in times of need, supports public education, and plays music that speaks only to those who are actually listening to the message."Why Can't You Behave" is the theme of Kristin Korb's new project. It examines all the facets of acting, ...

True Spirit music CDs
$10.65 Why do they call it the blues, when it makes you feel so good every time you listen to it? Everywhere they go, they get the same feedback: 'love the new sound guys!' And yes, it is a new sound for this band that's been around since 1991. More edge, more drive and a rockin' blues style that will leave you asking for more. If you haven't heard this band before, you're in for a treat. If you have, then you know why fans around Kansas City continue to choose them as a favorite, winning multiple KingCatMusic awards for 'best blues band' as well as the 2007 winner of the 'best live performance'. While the style is blues, the mission is definitely good news, centered on the life changing grace found in Jesus Christ. So check out what all the fuss is about. Mission Blues music, it will make you feel good every time you listen to it! To get a good understanding of the history of 'Mission Blues', you would first need to look at how the personnel of the band has changed through the years. For example, there have been thirteen different singers (lead or backup) with three of those still remaining in the band now.In the early days, when the group was formed (in 1991) as the 'house band' of a youth outreach, it was known as the 'Friday Fight Night Band' (it's not really a long story but we're still not going into it here). Once the decision was made to take the show outside the walls of the church, it was OBVIOUS that a name change was in order. For a couple of years the band was called 'Mission Blue' but then a change was made to 'Mission Blues' and it has remained that ever since (at least at the time of this writing we haven't changed the name! besides 'Cap'n Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters' was already taken anyway). Before the band ever made it into the studio, there were a handful of singers who spent some time with the band as the group spent a few years trying to establish a solid musical style. In 1998 it was time to record the first project which came in the form of CDs and cassette tapes (no albums or 8-tracks). That project was titled 'Blues on a Mission' and was recorded at Pat MaCatee's studio in Raymore, Missouri, with lead vocals sung by Kent Kuss and Lori Walters. We recorded it as quickly as we could (pretty much) because we didn't have much money. Although we worked hard on it, it's difficult to get the kind of quality that you want on a shoestring budget so when we ran out of copies we didn't bother to reproduce it. If you own a copy, you should hang onto it because it may be worth a lot of money someday (but I really doubt it). That was also the beginning of the 'chrome doughnuts' 3-D illustration used for the cover, which, by the way, is making a strong revival lately. Well, I've been asked many times what the heck that's all about but I've kept it a secret, at least until now. On second thought, I can't reveal that now either. Sorry!A few singers and a few years later we were back in the studio to record our second CD. 'Voices' was recorded at Air Digital in Independence, Missouri and was another step forward in establishing a distinct Mission Blues style. The only problem was that we didn't have much money so we recorded it as quickly as possible and the quality was better (but still not great). Ok, I realize that this is beginning to sound WAY TOO familiar. The lead vocals were handled by the incomparable Robin Creason who sang with Mission Blues for over 6 years and was always a crowd favorite (when she ...
