Digitally remastered by Jim Phillips (Universal Mastering Studios-West).
This is part of MCA's 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection series.
20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Don Williams, Vol. 1 is a decent compilation of Williams' recordings for MCA, featuring 12 of his biggest hits from the '70s and early '80s with nicely remastered sound, although 20 Greatest Hits offers a more thorough overview of Williams' career. ~ Steve Huey
20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Don Williams, Vol. 1 is a decent but not really necessary compilation of Williams' recordings for MCA, featuring 12 of his biggest hits from the '70s and early '80s. The problem is, nearly all of the songs are included on 20 Greatest Hits, which offers a more thorough overview of Williams' career at a price that really isn't much more expensive than The Millennium Collection. The remastered sound is quite nice, but 20 Greatest Hits remains the Williams compilation to get. ~ Steve Huey
Includes liner notes by Robyn Flans.
Compilation producer: Mike Ragogna.
Personnel includes: Don Williams.
Producers: Don Williams, Garth Fundis.

Best Of
$9.15 Recorded between 1959 & 1971. Includes liner notes by Rich Kienzle.
Although Gram Parsons gets all the credit, no country musician did more to marry rock & roll and country than Buck Owens. Owens and his long-time guitarist, Don Rich, trimmed the fat off Nashville's overwrought production, turned up the guitars, and let the drummer loose. The results were an enormously popular brew of West Coast hardcore honky-tonk and a dizzying array of #1 singles in the 1960s. This recipe established Bakersfield as the nation's first legitimately commercial country ...
| | Vince Gill Key CD (1998)
Best Of
$12.65 "If You Ever Have Forever In Mind" won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and was nominated for Best Country Song. "My Kind Of Woman/My Kind Of Man" was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals. "Don't Come Cryin' To Me" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
Vince Gill's THE KEY is essentially a crash course on the history of country music. Inspired by the death of his father to return to the classic country of his youth, Gill has created a primer of traditional country styles. Each song highlights a different style, from Western swing and the Bakersfield sound to waltzes and great male/female ...

| | Don Williams Definitive Collection CD (2004) Remastered
Best Of
$10.39 Don Williams's mellow, amiable baritone and easygoing approach made him one of the biggest country stars of the 1970s. With simple arrangements, straightforward songs, and an emotionally honest but endearingly laconic delivery, Williams had an instantly appealing signature sound. He rarely strayed far from that template, but there was little reason to, especially ...
| | Vince Gill These Days CDs (2006) Digipak
Best Of
$19.39 Not since Prince released the three-hour, three-CD set EMANCIPATION in 1996 or the Magnetic Fields took a similar number of discs for the sprawling 69 LOVE SONGS in 1999 has an artist attempted something as expansive as Vince Gill's THESE DAYS. A four-disc box set of all new material, nearly all of it Gill originals, THESE DAYS is possibly the widest-ranging country album of the modern era. The four discs are thematically and stylistically arranged. Disc one, WORKIN' ON A BIG CHILL, is a 1960s-flavored rock-and-roll album that recalls Bob Dylan's late '60s work with the Band and features Bonnie Bramlett's vocals on several songs. Disc two, THE REASON WHY, is a modern pop record in the style of Shania Twain's international releases, with several duet partners including Sheryl Crow and Leann Rimes. Disc three, SOME THINGS NEVER GET OLD, is straight honky-tonk in the Ray Price and Lefty Frizzell tradition. Finally, disc four, LITTLE BROTHER, is a strictly acoustic ...

| | Fun Lovin Criminals 100% Colombian CD (1998)
Best Of
$12.79 With their sophomore release, 100% COLOMBIAN, Fun Lovin' Criminals leave behind the Tarantino-esque sounds of their debut release for a more harmonious, soulful, Superfly-vibe that sounds like a '70s movie soundtrack. Always groovy, the album shines with funky, yet mellow musical textures, while continuing to have the humorous feel that defines the Fun Lovin' Criminals. Check out the fun-filled "Big Night Out," the guitar riffs of "Korean Bodega" and the ode to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, "Southside."
Filled with clever, witty lyrics, 100% COLOMBIAN is also packed with cool '70s vintage keyboards and the edge ...

| | Sam Bush King Of My World CD (2004)
Best Of
$15.05 A pioneering mandolin player, Sam Bush modernized bluegrass in the 1970s to the point of having his style coined "newgrass." True to form, Bush adds numerous stylistic nuances into the bluegrass template on 2004's KING OF MY WORLD. Here he moves from a traditional reading of Grandpa Jones's "Eight More Miles to Louisville" and the instrumental stomper "Puppie 'N Knapsacks" (featuring Bush on fiddle, mandolin, and banjo) to more unorthodox fare, including the self-penned, Latin-jazz-flavored "Bananas."
Not surprisingly, the Kentucky native isn't shy about borrowing from unlikely sources for material. This time around, he dips into the canons of contemporary bluesman Keb' Mo' (the sublime "A Better Man") and South African world music star Johnny Clegg (a reggae-flavored "Spirit Is the Journey"). Most impressive is a reading of Jeff Black's "They're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone," which boasts ...
