| | Simona Premazzi Looking For An Exit CD Simona Premazzi Discography of CDs
Simona Premazzi`s debut CD 'Looking For An Exit' has been described as "a mix that conjugates fantasy, energy and melodic grace" (S. Pasquandrea - jazzit magazine)Like spontaneous combustion, Simona Premazzi set the music aflame on her debut recording Looking For An Exit. She has sheer talent and also a certain presence that makes her a standout. Premazzi's playing can be forceful, delicate, humorous, or dramatic, and sometimes all within the same composition. A promising and exciting new female pianist - composer. Bravissimo. (Mark F. Turner)Pianist Simona Premazzi is a force to be reckoned with (J. Hunter)A strong, groovy and exciting sound, balanced with delicacy and elegance, sensitivity and decision. Her compositions explore different musical worlds, moods, feelings; swinging tunes with sections in different meters and characters, delicate ballads of static harmony, hypnotic loops. Simona Premazzi, pianist and composer, grew up in a small village in the north of Italy and began her jazz studies in the cosmopolitan city of Milano. During her student career she became part of the most interesting bands associated with the academy, including the 'Mingus Fingers' septet (playing the music of Charles Mingus) and Enrico Intra`s 'Jazz Big Band', with whom she spent 4 years performing on the great Italian stages and theatres with Italian and international musicians such as Markus Stockhausen, David Raksin, Franco Cerri, James Newton, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Dave Liebman, Eddie Daniels, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu and many others. She moved to New York in 2004 where she studied with Fred Hersch, Jason Moran, Jean Michel Pilc, Harry Whitaker and began soon to work regularly in jazz clubs. In February 2005 her 4et appeared on the television documentary 'Sounds Of Harlem' for CBS. Looking For An Exit album
$15.05 With The Fall, Norah Jones completes the transition away from her smooth cabaret beginnings and toward a mellowly arty, modern singer/songwriter. Jones began this shift on 2007's Not Too Late, an album that gently rejected her tendencies for lulling, tasteful crooning, but The Fall is a stronger, more cohesive work, maintaining an elegantly dreamy state that's faithful to the crooner of Come Away with Me while feeling decidedly less classicist. Some of this could be attributed to Jones' choice of producer, Jacquire King, best-known for his work with Modest Mouse and Kings of Leon, but King hardly pushes Norah in a rock direction; The Fall does bear some mild echoes ...

While his previous recordings leaned toward the classicist side--ONLY YOU featured songs of the '50s and '60s--YOUR SONGS features a more eclectic mix of standards and pop songs, with Connick's own lush orchestration lending an overall aesthetic of languid romanticism. To ...
