| | David Diggs Eye Of The Storm CD David Diggs Discography of CDs
A melodic imagination and an extensive education in arranging, composition, orchestration, and conducting have carried David Diggs to the heights of jazz artistry and to the top of the jazz charts. David lets his music speak for itself, making a strong, upbeat statement. With a unique blend of instrumentation -- a mixture of jazz and rhythm & blues, Diggs brings a dimension of 'blue-eyed soul' to his music. With synthesizers and strings, and some of the top musicians in Los Angeles, David's albums get right to the point with unrestrained creativity, illustrating why both CASH BOX and BILLBOARD rated him one of the top three New Jazz Artists in 1985.Under the influence of Michel Legrand, Claus Ogerman and Bob James, Diggs polished his arranging and producing talents, which were eventually featured on projects by Quincy Jones, Irene Cara, Jonathan Butler, Richie Furay, The Brothers Johnson, Pat & Debby Boone, as well as David's own albums. His album Streetshadows was a top ten entry on BILLBOARD'S Jazz Album Chart for 26 weeks. To this list of musical credits, David has added television programs, including The Tonite Show and Midnite Special, as well as feature films. He has produced/arranged several Grammy-nominated albums including the music for "Finally Captured" by comedian Jonathan Winters.Inspired by his passion for living, David Diggs' music is revealing and realistic, unrestrained and upbeat. Up front and honest, Eye of the Storm unites David's old-fashioned heart with a contemporary jazz sound.Album features Tom Saviano, as well as Paul Jackson, Jr., Harvey Mason, and Ernie Watts. Eye Of The Storm music CDs
$15.19 The Scott Gwinnell Jazz Orchestra is a modern-jazz, big band of 16 members who congregate on Tuesday nights to play at the Cadieux Cafe on the east side of Detroit, Michigan. The band focuses on playing original music as well as lesser known works by legendary jazz-composers and arrangers. The 'SGJO' is lead by pianist, Scott Gwinnell, who contributes many of the compositions/arrangements played by the band. The group consists of mainly young, prolific musicians who have a desire to play this idiom of music and bring a fresh perspective to big-band jazz that is sometimes lacking in older bands. The band has been together for 3 years now, and has changed homes from 'The Music Menu Cafe,' 'The Berklee Front,' to the 'Cadieux Cafe,' where they have been for the last 2 years. The band attracts 'full house' crowds and many jazz musicians to the club each week, where some of them sit in with the SGJO. The most notable and frequent guest is legendary trumpeter, Marcus Belgrave; he is also the featured artist on their new CD. Recent activities have been plentiful for the band. They've just recorded ...

| | Michele Rosewoman In Side Out CD (2006)
Eye Of The Storm CD music
$17.75 In her liner notes, Michele Rosewoman says that she has a passion for "obscuring the obvious." The music on The In Side Out is never close to obvious, evolving constantly without ever becoming overly comfortable. Some selections use complex time signatures while others have a floating feel to them. There is a vocal folkloric piece, some freer stretches that end up not being as free as they sound, and plenty of dynamic solos along the way. Tenor saxophonist Mark Shim and altoist Miguel Zenón solo brilliantly throughout but one should never overlook the alert and unpredictable playing of bassist Brad Jones and drummer Derrek Phillips. As for Michele Rosewoman, her occasional work on electric piano is intriguing, as is her admitted love of funk and R&B. There is also a liberal amount of her distinctive acoustic piano work, improvising within her own mysterious structures. Rosewoman's music is highly original, never going to predictable places even when it is funky, and it reveals more layers and surprises with each listen. ~ Scott Yanow

Ms. Rosewoman is heard here with a core ensemble featuring the powerful front line of saxophonists Mark Shim and Miguel Zenon augmented by special guests Dave Fiuczynski on guitar, Josh Roseman on trombone and Pedro Martinez ...
