As any quick perusal of old Top 40 rock & roll station playlists will attest, singles were where the shakin' action was, as rock & roll albums were scarce as hen's teeth back in those pre-Beatle days. But when the record companies decided to issue one, it was usually an artifact of high rockin' value and some major influence. Naysayers to the contrary, this debut album by the Northwest's first great rock & roll combo is just such an artifact. The Wailers dispensed crude, greasy, largely instrumental rock & roll music for those who came to shake it up and shake it down, and it's all on fine, rhythmic, open display here. This album is amazing in its own simplistic, nuthin'-special way, its crudity almost palpable. There's only one vocal aboard, Kent Morrill's "Dirty Robber," later covered and torched by the Sonics. Everything else is built on the riff-sturdy bones of their biggest hit, "Tall Cool One." With two guitars, piano, sax, and drums -- no bass player anywhere on here, another crudeness indicator of the times and locale it was recorded in -- all blasting away like they're working a VFW Hall dance, hoof shakers like "Wailin'," "Shanghaied," "Beat Guitar" (featured in the soundtrack of the misguided Jerry Lee Lewis bioflick Great Balls Of ...

Project Mayhem comprise of the lyrical onslaught of Boomstick (born in Inverness and raised in Middlesbrough now Glasgow based) & DJ Leach - aka Versatile- (born and raised in Middlesbrough but is now based in York). Redragon (Spirits of Vengeance) completes the line up on production duties. Redragon himself was born and raised in Orkney but did stints in Dubai and Inverness before settling in Glasgow. DJ Leach who rep's the 118 Soundsystem, Parthian Shot fam has known Boomstick since their early teens in Middlesbrough. Boomstick and Redragon wires crossed in Inverness and have known each other for five years now mashing up tracks and stage shows. Boomstick started writing at age seven and started going to battles at fifteen, this has not stopped since then. With his passion for battles he has lined up and knocked down some of the best and is a true asset to the Drop Zone Records role call. Collectively they have supported the likes of Princess Superstar and shared the stage with established UK Hip Hop artists Killa Kela, Part 2 (New Flesh for Old) and Roots Manuva. Project Mayhem are currently working with various artists and producers nationwide Alpha-Betix (Thirty Tonne Slug Records), Fenna Rhodes and Beatboxer /producer Mowgli and more .DJ Leach is just set to release an EP with his other group 118 Soundsystem called "Beached" EP on Thirty Tonne Slug Records and will also feature heavily on Parthian Shot's forthcoming release "Year of the Rooster". Chris Ahern is a songwriter from Cork City in Ireland. He has played with a range of bands from rock through folk to jazz. He spent many years playing with the vocal and guitar swing group Stargazers. The band released five singles and two albums, Chaser for the Blues and Mercier Park, for which Chris wrote the title track.Chris also founded the Music, Management and Sound course in Colaiste Stiofain Naofa in Cork. Course participants learn about music theory, music contracts, sound engineering and songwriting.
