Personnel: Julie Thompson, Maxi Jazz, Christian Burns, Charlotte Martin (vocals). Additional personnel: Jes, BT (vocals); Julie Thompson, Maxi Jazz, Christian Burns, Charlotte Martin. Photographer: Stephanie Pistel. On 2007's ELEMENTS OF LIFE, club legend Tiesto offers up another set of original, dance-floor-friendly tracks. While the Dutch artist stays well within trance/house territory for most of the album, he branches into a slightly poppier sound on the pulsing "Sweet Things," which features an emotive vocal performance by Charlotte Martin, and hits a darker Underworld-like vein with the BT collaboration "Break My Fall." On his third album overall, 2007's Elements of Life, Dutch DJ Tiësto manages to retain his focus on the style of music that has gotten him this far in the first place -- trance and electronic. But this time around, he also adds bits of rock and pop to the dance party. Featuring input from several vocalists (Charlotte Martin, Julie Thompson, Christian Burns, and Jes), as well as BT, who has collaborated with Tiësto in the past, the end result is an album that sounds custom-made for blaring on a dancefloor in a trendy New York City club -- "Ten Seconds Before Sunrise," "Break My Fall" (which features BT), and "In the Dark" (which features Burns) -- the latter of which is probably the most crossover worthy track that Tiësto has ever penned. ~ Greg Prato Tiesto Elements Of Life Songs Elements Of Life Music Review Average Rating: (4.1 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews dance4life track i the dance4life track was good but only after i listened to it like 5 or 6 times. BEST ALBUM EVER! I am actually amazed at the work Tiesto has presented in this album, I love EVERY SINGLE TRACK. I think he has evolved to a higher level in creating records suited for dancing and has collaborated with the greatest people. My favourites are In The Dark and Do You Feel Me. I strongly recommend that everyone grabs a copy, if not, YOU, my my friends, are missing out [xXx] Submitted by big_benny.benassi-buff_13666 (Campbellford, ON, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Known for creating hypnotic electronica in which fragments of airy female vocal melodies weave through pulsating layers of rhythms, Dutch DJ Tiesto is one of the most noted producers/remixers in progressive dance music. JUST BE continues Tiesto's forays into beat-based trance music, and his trademark sonic elements--floating vocals, eerie synth textures, and incessant, high-energy beats--are all present ...

| | Northern Picture Library Postscript CD (2005)
Elements Of Life
$11.19 LTM are proud to announce the release of a CD of singles and rarities by Northern Picture Library, the cult London band featuring three former members of The Field Mice. Northern Picture Library were formed by Bobby Wratten, Annemari Davies and Mark Dobson after The Field Mice split in 1991. NPL was a much less highly-strung project, less song-based and more dark and ambient than before, drawing influence from Talk Talk, Brian Eno and ambient/dance crossover. Melody maker described their album Alaska (already released on CD by LTM) as "one of the debut albums of 1993" and the band as "state of the art, post-ambient electropoppers who write some of the most beautiful songs in existence." Postscript gathers together the eight tracks from the 1994 eps Blue Dissolve and Paris, together with the rare compilation track Something Good (from a Sound of music tribute, no less!), and three previously unreleased tracks. These include Alaska outtake Snowscene, Ammonia Train (a Stars of Heaven cover) and an extraordinary remix of Welcome to California, originally recorded by Katmandu. Postscript boasts all new artwork. The 12 remastered tracks give a total running time of 66 minutes. Career Precis: formed in suburban Mitcham in 1987, The Field Mice released seven singles and three albums on Sarah Records. The group split at the end of 1991 but are now recognised as genre-leaders. Chief songwriter Bobby then formed Northern Picture Library, who released an album and three singles between 1993 and 1994. Bobby currently fronts Trembling Blue Stars. Their 5th album The Seven Autumn Flowers was released in 2004 on Elefant.
Personnel: Rob Waters (guitar, background vocals). Audio Mixer: Ian Catt. Recording information: C.A.T (11/1992-06/1994); RMS Studios, London, England (11/1992-06/1994). Having reissued Northern Picture Library's sole album, Alaska, with the tracks from the Love Songs for the Dead Che single, it was fairly unsurprising that LTM would follow up with Postscript, pulling together all the remaining singles and one-off cuts from the group, thus superseding the previous such compilation Still Life. Unlike the generally lengthier, propulsive psychedelia of Alaska, on singles Northern Picture Library aimed for more immediate, shorter pleasures not far removed from the Field Mice but not simply that band's work redux. That said, one of the band's longest numbers turns up here -- "Dear Faraway Friend," at almost 11 minutes a gentle, steady ramble that slowly but surely turns into a massive noise freak-out, showing their love for the likes of Loop perhaps even more readily than the Field Mice's cover of "Burning ...
