| | Best Of Cutting Crew CD (2004)
Truly Madly Deeply CD music
$9.79 This is a straight reissue of the original Cutting Crew best-of, which appeared in 1994. Still on import (this time appearing through EMI), The Best of Cutting Crew leaves the sequence and track listing unchanged, but does marginally update the cover art. Also -- perhaps tellingly -- its uncredited liners now include a plea to end illegal downloading. Musically, the set is still comprehensive, both for casual listeners and completists. "(I Just) Died in Your Arms" is here, and its whispery synths still kill. Don't worry about the "extended remix" -- inexplicably, it's only seven seconds longer. But "Any Colour" is quite capable synth pop, and the propulsive "One for the Mockingbird" is perfect for practicing that Molly Ringwald shoulder sway. The latter fades nicely into the ballad "I've Been in Love Before," a pillowy gem that still occasionally finds its way onto lite rock play lists. ~ Johnny Loftus
2003 compilation for the pop/rock act best known for their 1986 hit 'I Just Died in Your Arms'. Copy Controlled. EMI Gold.

| | Bananarama Wow! CD (1987) Bonus Tracks; England; Reissue; Remastered
Truly Madly Deeply CD music
$8.79 Bananarama followed up their hit-laden True Confessions, which spawned their international chart-topping version of "Venus," with 1987's Wow! True Confessions witnessed the emerging role of Stock, Aitken & Waterman as the trio's producers -- Wow! was wholly assembled by the hitmaking team, which was also responsible for hits by Rick Astley, Kylie Minogue, Dead or Alive, Donna Summer, and countless others. This album is, therefore, a straightforward 1980s dance set, with several songs that went on to become international hits. The only track from this set to make the U.S. Top Ten was "I Heard a Rumour," a sassy, joyous single just as infectious today as when first released. Also included is the sleek, lip-smackin' disco hit "I Can't Help It," the engaging, European chart-topper "Love in the First Degree," the single "I Want You Back," and an extended mix of their version of the Supremes' "Nathan Jones." Some of the non-hits pale in comparison to the singles, among those the dated, 12" version of "Some Girls"; the 12" version of "Strike It Rich," which, at some points, resembles an inferior version of "I Can't Help It"; and "Bad for Me," which unintentionally highlights the trio's vocal limitations. Nonetheless, the singles were quite intoxicating, and this hard-to-find set is sure to please fans of Bananarama, or any fans of the Stock, Aitken & Waterman sound, which ruled the airwaves and nightclubs in the mid- to late '80s. ~ Jose F. Promis
2007 digitally remastered and expanded reissue of this 1987 album by the most successful British girl group in Pop history featuring seven bonus tracks: 'Clean Cut Boy' (Party Size), 'Mr. Sleaze', 'Ecstasy (Wild Style)', 'Nathan Jones' (Psycho Seven Inch Edit), 'I Want You Back' (Single Version), 'Amnesia (The Roxy Theme)' and 'Nathan Jones' (Single Version). WOW! was the final Bananarama album to feature founding member Soibhan Fahey, who left the band and formed Shakespeare's Sister. 17 tracks total including the hits 'I Heard

$18.39 | | James Bradford Fumes Of Burning Bridges (2006)
Truly Madly Deeply songs
$8.59 "The Fumes of Burning Bridges" is the first single from James Bradford's 2007 album "Ipecac Kisses". The song was first conceived in 2003, but finally fleshed out with guitarist Toshio Mana (The Bootlickers) during the filming of the T.V. show "Can't Get a Date"."Fumes" is an up-tempo, in-your-face alt-country pop track about the perils of fame, greed and betrayal of friends. The b-side, "Mammie's Compact," was originally conceptualized in 1999 - and intrumental recordings were even laid down during the recording of the "Mnsmoeyne's Lounge" album! James finally revisted it in Toshio, and the result is a deep, moving gothic piece about death, religion and the bonds of family. Also features a live acoustic version of the hit "Bayou Refueling Station" as performed for the show "Can't Get a Date" and the instrumental version of "Bridges".Soon to come...a remix maxi-single of "Bridges" featuring versions by Neil Forrester (of MTV's "The Real World London").
