Redemption Origins Of Ruin Songs Origins Of Ruin Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Complex, Melodic, Intricate First up, this is not the kind of music for those who like Britney Spears or Ricky Martin.
Secondly, from the progressive metal scene, this is by far the best album I've heard, loved and owned since Dream Theater's Scenes From A Memory. And to think all of the compositions come from one person, Nick Van Dyk, is utterly amazing. Not to mention Ray Alder's (Fates Warning) impeachable vocals, no one can do it better!! Metal fans who dont "get" this kinda music are those who prefer Metalli.. This is not for u!
This is serious, deep, intense, thoughtful music that demands your attention from the first second and believe me, it will stirr you to the bone. Maybe not on the first listen (if you're not used to prog), but the more you listen to it, the more you will want to!!
There is a sense of urgency in the opening song "Suffocating Silence", it will make you cry! Each song deserves independant attention to truly appreciate the intricate details and individuality.

A Must Own For Any Prog Fan Are you a prog metal fan?? Then don't waist any time thinking about buying this CD. Just buy it. Everything from the production to the lyrics to the drums to the vocals, this truly is a prog metal classic. Contender for CD of the year in my book. 5 stars easy. Brilliant An amazing follow up to fullness, better production, better flow to each song, better lead playing and sound, heavier, better singing; and there wasnt much to improve upon. It has become hard to compare Redemption to other bands they truly have a unique approach. Almost 80s thrash riffage, with modern prog metal mix. (DCA/Crucible origins are evident) Submitted by symphx (Santa Rosa, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.

Origins Of Ruin
$14.49 The seeds for The Fullness of Time were planted with the band's self-titled debut in the summer of 2002. That album features members of Fates Warning, Steel Prophet, and Symphony X. Redemption leader Nick van Dyk prevailed upon his close friend, Fates Warning lead singer Ray Alder, to take the producer's chair.
The band quickly gathered a following in the metal underground, and received rave reviews from the press, which recognized the band for its combination of intensity, progression and melody. The German magazine Rock Hard awarded it 9 out of 10 points. The accolades culminated in a performance at ProgPower in September 2002. Alder also joined the band on stage as a guest performer.
With a newly revised lineup in place, Van Dyk set to work writing and recording the follow-up, and upon hearing the completed music, Alder asked to join the band as its full-time vocalist in the summer of 2004. The band recorded its sophomore release, The Fullness of Time,
Redemption: Ray Alder (vocals); Nick Van Dyk. First impressions would have many pegging Redemption as obvious Dream Theater disciples, what with their melodic brand of metallic prog, and the vocal similarities between singers Ray Alder and James LaBrie, respectively. Wait a second -- Ray Alder! The veteran heavy metal vocalist ...

Symphony X: Michael Romeo (guitars); Mike LePond (bass guitar); Jason Rullo, Russell Allen, Michael Pinnella. Personnel: Russell Allen (vocals); Michael Romeo (guitar); Michael Pinnella (keyboards); Jason Rullo (drums). Audio Mixer: Jens Bogren. Illustrator: Warren Flanagan. New Jersey prog-metal stalwarts Symphony X return with PARADISE LOST, their first outing since 2002's THE ODYSSEY. Their literary aspirations remain intact--the album is inspired by the John Milton epic poem of the same name--and per usual, Michael Romeo's Byzantine tablature and Russell Allen's vocals are the main attractions. Throughout PARADISE LOST the band fantasizes that all '80s thrash and '90s doom metal did not happen, and that they are picking up right where Randy Rhodes and Yngwie Malmsteem left off in the early 1980s. In their vision, technical dexterity and neo-classicism--note the inclusion of a string section and piano balladry--trump mathy angst, satanic sludge, and stoner riffage. Five years after the release of their critically acclaimed Odyssey, New Jersey prog metal quintet Symphony X have taken as their inspiration John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost as a follow-up. The poem, about the fall from grace of Adam and Eve and the rise of Satan's presence as prince of the world, ...

$11.39 Exhumed: Matt Harvey, Col Jones, Mike Beans, Bud Burke. Personnel: Sakara Birdong (vocals). Photographers: Alex Solca; Orion Landau. Unknown Contributor Roles: Neil Kernon; Scott Hull. Drummer Col Jones, one of the band's original members, left Exhumed soon after the release of Anatomy Is Destiny, though his swansong is liable to make many in the death metal community wonder why he left since the band's third disc is easily the band's best. The post-Carcass gore-core is barely recognizable, only heard in vestiges such as during "The Matter of Splatter" and the fittingly named "In the Name of Gore" (not about a former U.S. presidential candidate, or his wife for that matter), in addition to the furious blastbeats from Jones. However, the album seems much more regimented. It is likely that the band's members were listening to old thrash metal, as the tempos are more varied even though the carnage is not. "Under the ...
