Standard Screen; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack French; Soundtrack Spanish; English Subtitles This sweeping epic follows a Spanish nobleman who seeks his fortune by enlisting with Cortez's campaign to conquer Mexico. When the inquisitor who chased him from Spain is found murdered, he must face suspicions and possible execution. Tyrone Power stars as Pedro de Vargas, a swashbuckling Spanish nobleman with a heart of gold in this 16th-century action adventure. Pedro first shows his mettle when he helps a friend escape from slavery and then rescues a fair maiden from the men of the cruel slaveholder. But the slaveholder, who is a Spanish inquisitor, exacts his revenge by charging Pedro and all his family with heresy. After Pedro's sister is tortured to death, a friend sneaks into the prison and arms Pedro with a sword. Valiant Pedro uses the weapon to kill his enemy and escapes from the prison with his parents. Now a fugitive on the run, Pedro enlists with Cortez's campaign to conquer Mexico--and that's just the first act. From here on out, CAPTAIN FROM CASTILLE details the sordid adventures of Pedro and Cortez in this romantic historical re-creation of the tragic fall of Old Mexico. Between Power's charisma, the historical adventure, and lavish production values, CAPTAIN FROM CASTILLE is fine entertainment. Captain From Castile Reviews: "...Alfred Newman's score is close to his best from a 40-year career and one of screen history's most performed..."

$15.29 Based on Gregory Maguire's novel of the same name, the Broadway musical WICKED creates a history for the two witches from L. Frank Baum's OZ books. Through composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz's emotive songs, the show reveals the unlikely friendship between Elphaba (Idina Menzel), who eventually becomes the Wicked Witch, and Glinda (Kristin Chenoweth), the Good Witch.
The dramatic, horn-laden "No One Mourns the Wicked" starts the story in striking fashion, with the death of the ruby-slipper-wearing Wicked Witch. As Glinda appears, Elphaba's backstory begins, leading to jaunty numbers like "Popular" and "Defying Gravity," as well as ballads such as "I'm Not That Girl" and "For Good," with Menzel and Chenoweth showing off their substantial vocal chops. Adding to the boisterous energy is musical theater veteran Joel ...

$9.69 DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK is John Ford's first film in Technicolor (which recently perfected far richer shadings of color than had previously been possible), and the director uses it to stunning effect. The film stars Henry Fonda as Revolutionary War-era farmer Gilbert Martin, who, in 1776, has returned with his well-born wife, Lana (Claudette Colbert), to his rustic cabin in the increasingly dangerous Mohawk River valley. At first unaccustomed to the harsh physical challenges of frontier life, Lana adjusts to the work at hand and is soon able to help her husband in the fields. Shortly after they learn that the colonies are at war with the British, their farmhouse is attacked and burned to the ground by a party of Tory-led Indians. The feisty Widow McKlennar (Edna May Oliver) provides temporary shelter for the couple, but it's only a matter of time before the Indians launch a more brutal assault. Save for THE QUIET MAN, DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK contains the richest passages of pastoral imagery in Ford's entire canon, the visual beauty ...

$9.69 Tyrone Power and Henry Fonda star as the roughest, toughest six-gun-shooting outlaws the West has ever known. The story follows Jesse James and his brother Frank from their days as peaceful Missouri farmers to their first holdup, a daring train robbery in retaliation for their mother's death at the hands of a vile railroad official. After several successful train robberies, Jesse, heeding his girlfriend's advice, surrenders to the authorities in hopes of a lenient sentence and an honest future with his gal. But once in custody, ...
