Journey video
$7.59 Principally recorded at NRG and The Hook, Hollywood, California; Front Page Studios, Burbank, California; Sonica, London, England from April through June 1997.
With the arrival of Save Ferris, the mid-'90s Cali-based ska-punk meltdown officially gets upgraded to an invasion. Full of candy-glossed, R&B-ish horns playing many BPM above the speed limit, four-on-the-floor punk guitars, and downbeat tempo breaks, IT MEANS EVERYTHING, the Orange County septet's full-length debut, is a study in the alterna-ska sound circa No Doubt and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Surprisingly, when Ferris stretch out of the form's musical and lyrical touchstones, they evade the skater's park audience in favor of a retro-lounge style that retains the island lilt. Think Squirrel Nut Zippers go to the Carribean.
"Superspy" is full of dark swing-abilly overtones. On "Goodbye," the band approximate the sound of smoky-bar combo, as Monique Powell applies her finest Billie Holiday imitation. "Lies" is a Frankenstein of disparate traditions as a straight-ahead reggae groove is mixed with 50's pop strings and vocals. Still, the cover of Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come On Eileen" best illustrates Save Ferris' intentions; punked-up pop, with horns as melodic gifts and riddims as exotic breakthroughs.
Producers: Peter Collins, Craig Nepp, Save Ferris.
Personnel: Brian Mashburn (vocals, guitar); Starpool ...

$14.75 Though it only lasted for six episodes, the Zucker brothers' 1982 television series POLICE SQUAD! left a pop-culture legacy as the show that spawned the NAKED GUN movies. Displaying the same comic sensibilities as the Zuckers' AIRPLANE, HOT SHOTS, and TOP SECRET, the sitcom parodies serious police dramas through the zany crime-fighting ...

$16.19 Sam Raimi's follow-up to SPIDER-MAN finds Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) struggling to balance his everyday life with his alter ego as the web-slinging superhero. Still carrying the burden of keeping his crime-fighting identity from those closest to him--including his longtime love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), his best friend Harry Osborn (James Franco), and his doting Aunt May (Rosemary Harris)--Parker must also face off against a dangerous new menace, Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), a scientist driven mad by experiments involving powerful mechanical arms. When the deranged Octavius (aka Doc Ock) forms an alliance with the vengeful Osborn, who blames Spider-Man for the death of his father, the wall-crawling hero is in for his biggest battle yet.
With SPIDER-MAN 2, Raimi retains--and improves on--all the elements that made the first film so good, including an excellent story (crafted, in part, by acclaimed novelist Michael Chabon), tight pacing, and stunning special effects. Parker's internal conflicts are even greater than before, and Maguire adds emotional depth to every scene. Returning actors Dunst, Franco, Harris, and J.K. Simmons (once again portraying Parker's tough-talking boss, J. Jonah Jameson) are all pitch-perfect in their roles, and, as the once-noble Octavius, Molina is remarkable, relishing his villainous lines, while giving the character a surprisingly vulnerable side. Throughout the movie, Raimi expertly balances drama and ...

Journey movie DVD
$48.95 Paper Mario isn't just out of this world ... it's out of this dimension. What at first glance appears to be a 2-D sidescroller ripped straight from the pages of the Paper Mario universe soon turns into a 3-D action-adventure that defies all video game logic. Fusing 2-D and 3-D perspectives, not to mention RPG and platformer elements, the game slips back and forth between dimensions. The action sprawls across eight worlds filled with traps, puzzles, bizarre mysteries and items that often draw themselves out of thin air. Oh, and just because Mario's in the title doesn’t mean he's the only star -- players also get to play as Peach and Bowser.
Mario and Luigi are enjoying a lazy afternoon at their house when they hear the terrible news: Princess Peach has been kidnapped! The two brothers head straight for Bowser's castle to get her back but Bowser is just as surprised about Peach's kidnapping as they are. At that moment a strange top-hatted villain warps in and abducts everyone but Mario. The mysterious villain then forces Peach and Bowser to ...
