$16.39 Brian's perspective; About two years ago, a friend of mine who owns hear here studios, Tom Brown, called me on the phone and asked, "are you ready?" Ready for what I asked? Again he asked " are you ready?" So I thought to my self, o.k. I'll bite. He said that he wanted me to start writing lyrics for a Christian album. Well I've been a musician/ guitar player for twenty-seven years and have been a Christian longer than that. I thought that this was a great opportunity so I started writing. I thought to myself, " whom am I going to get to write the music?" I had met a man a few months earlier, through a mutual friend named John Jennings. I called him up and asked him for help. I presented him with dilemma and he agreed to help me. We started to write from scratch. I wrote the lyrics and he wrote the music. We ended up writing eight songs for the cd. Once we got the cd finished, we needed to get a band together to perform the new effort. John, my partner in crime and I did the whole thing ourselves with the help of Tom Brown the engineer. I was charged with writing a cd that would make people think and to give them a different perspective. With the style of music that I so much like to play, full tilt boogie in your face guitars, solid aggressive bass, with a distinct syncopated drum style. I wasn't trying to make a bunch of Christians feel warm and fuzzy, it was to make regular folk think about their future. Not just the near future, but also the long time future. We all have to make important decisions in our lives. Where is it that you want to spend eternity?John's perspective; I normally start a new a song like a blind artist approaching a canvas. I have no idea where I'm at on the page, it just feels right. I hit a couple chords, a strange bass line, or hum a melody. That was always the norm. Then comes Tom Brown and Brian Douglas. I had been playing alternative prog rock with Mike Sallee, and Robert Dickey for a couple of years. No matter how hard we tried, we could never Seem to get out of Mike's garage. There always seemed to be some kind ofConflict within our personal lives that kept us from taking the next step. I mentioned to the guys Oct. of 2003 that if things didn't change I would be looking for something different around the beginning of the year. In early Feb. of 2004 I received a call from Tom Brown.Tom was a seasoned engineer that had done some prior work for me.He had mentioned a possible christian project that he thought might interest me. I was interested, but a little skeptical for the fact that I was not a christian. Tom mentioned that Brian Douglas had ...
