| | Michael Buble It's Time CD (2005)
Tewo Tsunagou (Mini LP Sleeve) CD music
$11.65 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the chops and sense of style to re-imagine the adult-contemporary vocal genre in a distinctive ...

FRAGILE marks the moment when Yes left the planet and took up residence on one of cover artist Roger Dean's far-off lands. While the band managed to capture the popular imagination with its condensed, accessible version of "Roundabout," which they edited down to a single from the lengthier album version, for the most part FRAGILE laid the groundwork for the expansive, complex, keyboard-dominated work that typified the style known as "progressive rock." The record also marks the arrival of Rick Wakeman--a classically trained keyboardist whose vast array of synthesizers and effects was matched only by his prodigious ability.
In addition to "Roundabout," the band's best-known song, the lengthy "Heart of the Sunrise" also became a Yes chestnut. Drummer Bill Bruford became the envy of air-drummers across America, and together with Wakeman, guitarist Steve Howe, vocalist Jon Anderson, and bassist Chris Squire created some of the most architecturally ambitious rock of the era. FRAGILE proved to be the band's breakthrough album, and is a cornerstone recording of the genre.
This marked the period when Yes left the planet and took up residence on one of artist Roger Dean's far-off lands. The musical transition is apparent with longer instrumental ...

| | Rachel Loshak Mint CD (2003)
Tewo Tsunagou (Mini LP Sleeve) songs
$15.19 Anytime a Grammy winner says they love an album, it tends to make people perk up. So when Norah Jones says that she loves Rachel Loshak's album, Mint, it's probably worth the time of most fans of Jones to check this out. Loshak combines a myriad of styles including piano-driven pop, reggae, and some detailed guitar playing to make for a nice collection of music for the fan of pop music. Primarily, she delves into her soft, gentle songs with pleasant vocals that contain a hint of melancholy ŕ la Sarah McLachlan, while the music changes up enough throughout the course of the 11 songs to make this an intelligent album, as well as making Jones look pretty smart for including Rachel Loshak among her entourage of musicians. ~ Kurt Morris
What makes Singer/Bassist, Rachel Loshak’s music and sound so special is her sophisticated, orchestral approach to traditional pop music. Imagine a string quartet stripped of its native instruments and handed electric guitars and amplifiers. Melodic bass figures move like a boogied cello weaving with her pure and bell-toned voice, all forming an accessible foundation to the wide-eyed wonderment of her lyrics, which Loshak paints in broad strokes with a graceful sadness.Among the haunting, darker numbers from her release Mint (2003), it’s the sparse, shadowy piano figures of “Single Rose” or the depth of the chamber sounds of “The Dreamer” that make the perfect pop lilt of “Rain” and “Sweet as Sin” stand out in their tasteful sublimity. She also induces a near-tribal rouse on the dub-tinged “Never Look Back”.Her new album “Peach Pony” follows her songwriting to its next level, and brings the production, as she works with Jason Crigler and Morgan Taylor, along with it.Supporting her both onstage and on record are guitarist Jason ...
