The title of this television-advertised compilation may be arrogant, but then the tango is not a dance for the shy and retiring. Whether or not it is, as it claims, The Best Tango Album in the World, Ever!, the two-disc set, containing 30 tracks and running a little less than an hour and a half, does feature some major performers of the music, notably Carlos Gardel, renowned as the father of the tango, heard performing "Volver" and the concluding vocal version of "Mi Buenos Aires Querido," and Astor Piazzolla, who used the tango as a vehicle for composing modern classical music, heard performing "La Rayuela." Don't you just love when record labels leave out vital information? That's what happened on 500,000 Kilowatts of P-Funk Power by the P-Funk All Stars. There notes say this was recorded (at least in part) at a couple studios, but this sure sounds like a live recording, both due to the sound of the recording and the presence of an audience (as well as George's repeated shout-outs to "D.C."). And there's no date given, either, but the presence of "Pepe the Pill Popper" and "Dope Dog" would have to place it in the late '90s or early '00s.
