| | Best Of The Cranberries: The Millennium Collection CD Cranberries Discography of CDs
Most folks who drew breath in the Western world in the early 1990s, and were anywhere within earshot of a radio, heard plenty of the Cranberries. The group's stylish pop-rock combined alt-rock guitar stylings with Celtic lilt and irrepressible melodies to become one of the most popular acts of its day. The 20TH CENTURY MASTERS best-of set collects the band's best and best-known moments under one cover.
At a mere 11 tracks, THE BEST OF THE CRANBERRIES can't claim to be definitive, yet all the hits are here, including the group's breakthrough single "Linger" and the smash success "Zombie." Cranberries fans will have this material on the studio albums already, but the set is a perfectly short, sweet sampler for the uninitiated or those looking for only the key cuts. Moreover, with Dolores O'Riordan's distinctive voice and the band's appealing jangle-crunch, this album serves as a nice scrapbook of the sound of mainstream pop-rock in the early '90s. Best Of The Cranberries: The Millennium Collection
$28.05 The companion piece to the 1962-1966 singles compilation, this set (often called "the blue album," as opposed to its chronological predecessor "the red album"), brings together the Beatles best known songs from 1967 through 1970. The Beatles were fiercely, relentlessly experimental during these years, and the swirling, ...

Best Of The Cranberries: The Millennium Collection
$20.09 Although generally not as highly regarded by the critics as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, or the Who, the Kinks may well have influenced far more musicians. The three-chord sledgehammer proto-metal burst of teenage lust called "You Really Got Me," the Kinks' third single and first hit, touched off a garage band explosion, which in turn influenced the rise of punk a decade later. Blessed with an astute songwriter ...

Best Of The Cranberries: The Millennium Collection
$10.69 Spitalfield are back with Remember Right Now, once again posing the musical question, "How melodic can melodic punk get and still reasonably be considered punk?" Of course, the only rational response to that question is "Who cares?," which is why we're not even going to discuss the glockenspiel that keeps popping up on the bridge during "Those Days You Felt Alive." Instead we'll focus on those irresistible hooks, those delirious harmonies, those big fat crunchy ...
| | Paul Specht Retro-Specht (1925-1931) CD (2003)
Best Of The Cranberries: The Millennium Collection
$12.89 Violinist Paul Specht started leading bands in 1916, and throughout the 1920s and first half of the '30s, his orchestra was popular. Specht's ensemble performed and recorded regularly, being more of a dance band than a jazz ensemble. A small group taken out of his orchestra, the Georgians, was very jazz-oriented and featured the underrated trumpeter Frank Guarante as early as 1922. However the music on this CD is taken from a slightly later period. Reversing the trend of most other groups of the time, Specht's records of 1925-1928 are generally less interesting than his early Depression performances of 1929-1931. In fact, the numbers included here from the mid-'20s often are a bit corny, have unswinging phrasing and ...
| | Wizz Jones Legendary Me CD (2006)
Best Of The Cranberries: The Millennium Collection
$14.09 The Legendary Me by guitarist Wizz Jones was his third offering released in November of 1970 in Great Britain; it was issued by the Village Thing label run by Ian Anderson (later founding editor of Folk Roots magazine) and Gef Lucena of SayDisc. Jones' guitaristry was trademark, full of blues, old world modes and lyric lines, burning finger-picking, and a sense of humor to go with it all; he is often compared to John Renbourn and Bert Jansch, but he's better than both and is in the same league as the legendary Davy Graham. As for the cuts themselves, the highlights ...
