Recorded between 1957 & 1984. Includes liner notes by Bill Dahl.
This is part of "20th Century Masters: The Millenium Collection" series.
The Everly Brothers were an amazing singles band. One look at the track listing of their 20th Century Masters collection bears this out. Eleven of the 12 songs are simply classic examples of rock & roll music at its peak. Songs like "Bye Bye Love," "All I Have to Do Is Dream," "When Will I Be Loved," and "Crying in the Rain" are the perfect distillation of teenage heartbreak, heartache, and joy into two-minute chunks of pop magnificence. The only problem with this disc (other than the questionable inclusion of their middling hit from 1984 "On the Wings of a Nightingale" instead of one of their prime hits) is that it is too brief. The Everlys are the rare group that doesn't need to strain to fill up a 16-track best-of collection. In fact, Rhino's All-Time Original Hits from 1999 does just that. It also draws from the band's tenures at both Cadence and Warner Brothers but ignores the Brothers' comeback and adds loads of great tunes for only a couple bucks more. Everyone should have an Everly Brothers collection. Don't be a cheapskate, go for the Rhino comp. Or better yet, go wild and get the box set, also on Rhino. You won't regret it. ~ Tim Sendra

Their song, "All I Have To Do Is Dream" is one of my favorites!! When my husband was far away serving in the military, this song became one that helped me get through being alone. I could always dream, dream, dream about the day that he would soon be home again. As we celebrate with a 50th Anniversary Reception in July this is one song that will be heard by our guests. I'm glad that the "Oldies But Goodies" are still alive and that you continue to make them available to us, the "Rock 'n Roll" generation!! 20th Century Masters: The Best Of The Everly Brothers songs
$14.59 The very notion seems preposterous today (too good to be true, more like), but in 1981, underground legends Motörhead -- the band who once correctly boasted that if they moved in next door, your lawn would die -- saw their landmark No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith live album enter the U.K. Charts at number one! The New Wave of British Heavy Metal was also in full swing that year, with early champions like Saxon, Iron Maiden and Def Leppard already building from strength to strength, and a hungry throng of supplementary upstarts waiting in the wings to take their best shot at denim-and-leather glory. One of these was South London's Tank, and the reason we bring up Motörhead, first and foremost here, is because this power trio composed of the brothers Mark and Pete Brabbs and gravel-throated, former Damned bassist Algy Ward, had Lemmy and co. to thank for the lion's share of their musical inspiration -- not to mention many of their earliest concert bookings leading up to first album Filth Hounds of Hades. Released in early 1982 and produced by none other than Motörhead guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke, Filth Hounds naturally contained its fair share of scorching, paint-peeling heavy ...
