Blaxplosion album
$10.49 A HARD DAY'S NIGHT presents a fictionalized day in the life of the Beatles as they give a performance on a live television show. Filmed just a month after their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964, this film--the Beatles' first--introduces us to the unique personalities of each member of the band. The film opens with the Fab Four boarding a train mobbed with adoring young fans (mostly women) as they attempt to travel to the television studio in London. The antics of the band during rehearsals and makeup application provide ...

Blaxplosion album
$13.75 At first glance, Halford's entry into the crowded holiday market looks like a parody. Heavy metal and Christmas make for strange bedfellows, and WINTER SONGS' pastoral cover art -- which depicts Rob Halford staring wistfully (with a goatee ...
| | Daughtry Leave This Town CD (2009)
Blaxplosion CD music
$15.45 When he was recording his debut album in 2006, Chris Daughtry didn't have the time to assemble the real rock band he so desperately wanted to have, so it appeared under the band name Daughtry without featuring any of the musicians who later became part of the group. That's not the case with LEAVE THIS TOWN, Daughtry's second record: all five members are glowering on the album cover, floating like specters over an abandoned Californian street. The five rockers serve as visual evidence that Daughtry is a band, not a person, and such reminders may be necessary because LEAVE THIS TOWN doesn't differ much in feel or form from DAUGHTRY. Overall, LEAVE THIS TOWN isn't quite as studio slick as DAUGHTRY, which was fueled by Chris Daughtry's desire prove that he belonged in the big leagues; here, he's achieved that goal and he's happy to stay there as long as possible, giving the people what they want in the form of furrow-browed rockers ...
| | Guttermouth Musical Monkey CD (1997)
Blaxplosion music CDs
$11.49 From Orange County comes a band that reflects all the worst aspects of the Orange County punk scene. Of course they're homophobic, exemplified on the song "Big Pink Dress," where they sing frat-nitwit lyrics like, "I live with Bill/It's such a thrill/We get on so fine/We tend our garden every day/Sometimes we get 69." Guttermouth also try to be sarcastic and humorous à la the Vandals, but are about as funny as any random guy wearing a tank top and a baseball cap who just downed a 12-pack. Musically, they play by-the-numbers punk rock, never bothering to come up with a riff or lick that mildly deviates from the norm. Also, the singer's voice is intensely annoying and bratty, almost as bad as, say, Scrappy Doo. The only song that's halfway OK is "Corpse Rotting in Hell," a minute-long takeoff on death metal with a dog bark at the end that's worth a chuckle. But, mostly, Guttermouth (who do actually have their fair share of fans and are able to headline medium- to large-sized venues) make the Bloodhound Gang or Limp Bizkit sound like Beethoven. ~ Adam Bregman

$27.05 The late-'20s British musical Mr Cinders, with music by Vivian Ellis and Richard Myers, and book and lyrics by Clifford Grey and Greatrex Newman, was a modern version of Cinderella transferred, as its title suggested, to the male sex. After a 13-week tour of the country, it opened in London on February 11, 1929, and proceeded to run a successful 529 performances, charming audiences with such songs as "Spread a Little Happiness" and amusing them with the novelty ...
