Donny Todd, a native Californian, grew up in Minnesota. At age 15, Donny found his calling. Overwhelmed by life's twists and turns he felt music beckoning him to express himself through its melody and beauty. With a guitar from his brother Jalyn Anderson, and a newfound desire to make amazing music, he started a musical journey that has led him from playing in coffee shops in Minnesota and all around the Midwest, to venues such as Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta. His debut EP "Find Myself," appropriately titled, marks the birth of Donny's professional career, and serves as a showcase of his bursting talent and potential. "I am constantly changing and growing in music," said Donny, "and finding new things about myself along the way." Well, keep an eye out for Donny Todd, and keep this CD spinning in the meantime. Find Myself
$16.45 Now finished recording his follow up to 2004’s critically acclaimed Tall Tales, Royal is getting set to release his latest full-length release A Good Enough Day on Dead Daisy Records/Outside Music. Carefully writing, performing and producing the effort, Royal decided to have a few guest musicians sit in. They included Hawksley Workman, Kurt Swinghammer, Harmony Trowbridge and Kevin Fox. Beginning on the piano at the age of four, Royal Wood became a multi-instrumentalist by his early teens. In fact any instrument he could get his hands on was explored and devoured. His school's music program had a sign-out policy for any instrument smaller than the tympani - and they all found their way home to his bedroom - even the drums came home for the summer months. Fast forward to today, and you will find Toronto based singer-songwriter and producer Royal Wood performing with the likes of Sarah Harmer, My Morning Jacket, Peter Elkas, Danny Michel, Serena Ryder, Dan Bern, Justin Rutledge, Lindy, Erin McKowen…and more. His music has been featured on several TV and movie soundtracks; including the HBO series Regenisis, the CBC series This is Wonderland, the CTV movie Playing House, the film The End of Silence starring Sarah Harmer, the Warner Music Canada soundtrack to the Food Networks The Surreal Gourmet (with other artists including Feist, Tom Waits, The Flaming Lips, Moby, Aretha Franklin) and more. His self-written, performed and produced releases The Milkweed EP and most recently Tall Tales (released ...
| | Mckenzie Brothers Something To Anchor To CD (2007)
Find Myself
$16.45 The McKenzie Brothers BioThe musical adventure, (the saga), of Jimi and Johnny, The McKenzie Brothers, continues to be written with their new CD release, “Something To Anchor To”. “I’m sitting here listening to your wonderful record…this is just fantastic…the songs, the vocals, the production…it is fantastic…great work!!! Paul Samuel Dolman, The South Beach Company, Nashville Tennessee. The Florida born siblings grew up on various musical genres in a family where everyone sang. The brothers effortlessly evolved from Hank Williams Sr. to Everly Brothers harmony, to Beatles-like showmanship, and steeped themselves in Allman Brothers, Eagles, Jackson Browne and CSN&Y. They earned their chops on their Strats, Teles, Gibsons and Taylors, and honed their shows into tight performances through hundreds of hours on stage and in recording studios. This new CD is a culmination of years of dedication to the art of song writing and professionalism. “Something To Anchor To” is a killer recording….First, Johnny graduates from FSU, but has a song recorded by Capricorn Recording artists Cowboy who were then touring with the Allman Brothers. Johnny moves to Macon Ga. and becomes a staff writer for Capricorn. A year or so later, Jimi shows up in Macon and the brothers begin to rekindle the musical spark. Jimi has made a decision to skip college and pursue music full time. Johnny hears about the early 70’s Key West music scene, and on a whim drives south and scores a full-time gig at what is now The Bull on Duval St. A visiting New Yorker, Howard Levitt, music writer for Record World Magazine, catches Johnny’s act and writes this review: ”Johnny McKenzie’s songwriting and his coincidental poetry is a thing of beauty. Numbers like “Ain’t Too Many” and “The Wonder” (picked up by Capricorn recording artists Cowboy on their second album) are highly evocative lyrical gems. He is a performer, writer and poet par excellence.” Johnny calls Jimi and says please come to Key West ASAP. The brothers rehearse nonstop for three weeks. The McKenzie Brothers quickly become local stars on the Duval St. club scene, working seven nights a week. All this opportunity to work and write causes a flood of songs, each tested on the Key West audiences. The McKenzie Brothers, soon find themselves opening for Jimmy Buffet, and entertaining at private parties for Key West literary luminaries Thomas McGuane, Jim Harrison and others.”You can place your bets on Jimi and Johnny McKenzie. Creativeness is evident in the fine mastery ...
| | Object Foucault A Go Go CD (2007)
Find Myself
$16.45 Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, Paul de Man, Harold Bloom—what do all these people have to do with rock 'n' roll? What do semiotics, deconstruction, and postmodernism have to do with alternative music? These are some of the sources of inspiration for Object’s fourth album, Foucault A Go Go. This collection of songs is probably Object’s darkest, moodiest album; however, there are tracks that show Object hasn’t lost its sense of humor. Graduate students in literature ...
