(18 Customer Reviews)
In the aftermath of the on-stage murder of Pantera/Damageplan guitarist Darryl "Dimebag" Abbott, fans were hard-pressed to predict if and when Dime's brother and musical partner, drummer Vinny Paul, would reemerge. In fitting tribute, the late Dime's studio eventually became the womb for the birth of a new supergroup, Hellyeah. Chad Gray, Greg Tribbett (both of Mudvayne), and former Nothingface members Maxwell and Jerry Montano join Paul on a powerful self-titled debut. "You Wouldn't Know" speaks to the soul-crushing pressures of the major-label music world, while "Matter Of Time" and "Hellyeah" are bona fide fist-pumping metal anthems. "Thank You" pays homage to loved ones lost (including, naturally, Dime himself). All in all, HELLYEAH serves up the kind of infectious groove-metal that the Abbott brothers helped invent in the late 1990s and early '00s, and will please fans of all involved.

Hellyeah Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Sick In honesty, I wasn't expecting much just because of the diverse talents of each band member, but after the first 4 minutes I was hooked, purely sick from track to track. I should have known it would only be a "Matter of Time" before something wicked came out of nowhere, its happened now. Submitted by xoldincubusx (Tempe,AZ) Was This Review Helpful? Awesome Must have record. Vinnie's back and it's the Power-grove style that I love. Buy this album! Can't wait 'til June 30 when they hit Sydney. :) Submitted by asdasdfasd (Sydney, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Fn wicked Excellent album. Hard hitting, no bs southern style metal. Fav tracks atm are 1, 2, 3 and 5. Not the same or as heavy as Pantera which is good because we don't need a clone and there can be only one Pantera anyway! Submitted by Andrew (Auckland, NZ) Was This Review Helpful? Hardcore Man!!! Heavier than Mudvayne Man do these guys rock or what. What they did with Mudvayne was amazing and this is a great follow up. It sound almost completely the same to Mudvayne which is a good thing. The best songs are HellYeah, Matter of Time, Alcohaulin' Ass, Star, and Nausea. They are all good and if you like Mudvayne than this would be a great album for you to buy. Submitted by Clint (Aurora, NE, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Hellyeah album
$15.65 Issued in May 2007 after months of delays, UNITED ABOMINATIONS not only marks Megadeth's first album for the venerable Roadrunner label, it features singer/guitarist Dave Mustaine backed by an entirely new ensemble. In fact, the record's artwork even boasts a revamped depiction of Vic Rattlehead, the band's mascot. Clearly, the changes have reinvigorated Mustaine, who is at his snarling best on these fierce tracks, which, like many classic Megadeth tunes, take on issues of politics ("Washington Is Next!"), armed conflict ("Gears of War"), and blind obedience ("Sleepwalker").
Given Mustaine's strong personality and knack for selecting top-notch musicians, the radical personnel shift has no discernable negative effects on the group, with James Lomenzo (bass) and brothers Glen and Shawn Drover (guitar and drums, respectively) contributing to a more streamlined approach that eschews excessive soloing. While Megadeth's aggressive thrash aesthetic is amply showcased on the wire-tight "Sleepwalker," Mustaine also makes room for subtleties, as on a reworking of the melancholy "A ...
| | DevilDriver Last Kind Words CD (2007)
Hellyeah CD music
$13.79 For their third full-length, DevilDriver storms ahead with their compound of old-school thrash, death, and groove metal stylings. Vocalist Dez Yet Farfara and company offer up a fair share of melodic playing and hooky riffs without sacrificing the band's trademark aggression and ferocity. THE LAST KIND WORDS gets a polished, tonal facelift compared to earlier albums, thanks to Trivium/Bury Your Dead producer Jason Suecof.
UK pressing of the 2007 release from this Hardcore Metal band formed by former Coal Chamber vocalist Dez Fafara. Their third album overall, ...
| | Five Finger Death Punch Way Of The Fist CD (2007)
Hellyeah music CDs
$14.35 As its name indicates, Five Finger Death Punch packs a serious sonic wallop. On WAY OF THE FIST, the band offers up its appealing brand of metal, which moves between hardcore, ominous black metal, and melodic metal a la System of a Down or Alice in Chains. Tunes like the opener "Ashes" and "Salvation" are cases in point, alternating pummeling, in-your-face verses with winding, hooky choruses. WAY OF THE FIST rocks hard, and--with its sense of variety-- should appeal to metalheads of many stripes.

| | Seether Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces CD (2007)
Hellyeah songs
$8.99 With 2007's FINDING BEAUTY IN NEGATIVE SPACES, the Los Angeles-based heavy-rock band Seether tones down the dark mood of KARMA & EFFECT in favor of a more energetic, straight-ahead sound. Reinvigorated by a stint in rehab, South African-born vocalist/guitarist Shaun Morgan, whose singing often recalls that of Metallica's James Hetfield, has an enthusiastic intensity that's evident on the swaggering "Fake It" and the urgent "6 Gun Quota," making for one of Seether's most lively albums.

| | Disturbed Indestructible CD (2008)
Hellyeah album
$10.59 Disturbed is one of the few bands that can be uncompromisingly cynical and captivatingly inspirational at the same time. If 2005's TEN THOUSAND FISTS was a call to arms, then INDESTRUCTIBLE is a rampaging battle cry. Disturbed enters the melee with all guns blazing and refuses to grant mercy up until the very last track. The band seems to abhor the notion of "filler," so each track on INDESTRUCTIBLE was crafted with forceful purpose. The simple chord ...
| | Metallica Death Magnetic CD (2008)
Hellyeah CD music
$15.65 In the five years between the two releases, Metallica seem to have gotten back in touch with the raw power of their classic period, with a little help from legendary producer Rick Rubin. One listen to the 10-minute epic "Suicide & Redemption" with its mix of raw rock ferocity and complex musical development should tell you the old Metallica's back in business. Long tracks with complex structures and intricate, speedy riffs abound. Most appealing for longtime fans may be the return to the frenzied guitar solos of yore. Rubin seems to have assisted the band on a path that successfully combines power, melodicism, and pure, unadulterated metal mania, over a sonic statement that definitively proves there's nothing over-the-hill about middle-aged metal.
The world at large got a fly-on-the-wall view of the creation of Metallica's 2003 album, ST. ANGER, via the documentary SOME KIND OF MONSTER, so we know they consciously tried to keep things contemporary at that time by avoiding ...

| | Mortal Loom Alchemy Through Dreams CDs (2000)
Hellyeah songs
$20.25 To those who haven't acquired a taste for electronic club music, a technology-based recording might sound like it consists of nothing but a beat (techno, jungle, acid house) or nothing more than a mood (ambient, trance, trip-hop). It's a question of what one does and doesn't comprehend -- however much artistic value an electronic recording might have, there are bound to be those who simply don't understand what they're listening to. Alchemy Through Dreams probably won't win over those who have a hard time understanding electronic music, but those who do understand it will find Mortal Loom's brand of electronica/ambient music rewarding and quite musical. While Mortal Loom maintains a haunting mood throughout this mostly instrumental CD, this album isn't one-dimensional or predictable. Depending on what's appropriate on a particular piece, the American group can incorporate anything from trip-hop, trance, and new age to world music and jazz. "Sorry...," in fact, hints at Tutu-era Miles Davis. The disc ends on a surprising note with its only non-instrumental: an ethereal interpretation of the pop standard "Dream a Little Dream of Me," which features singer Judy July. That standard is the last thing one expects to hear at the end of such a futuristic CD. Again, Alchemy Through Dreams is unlikely to convert anyone who insists that he/she doesn't care for electronica, but those who are open to electronic sounds will find a lot to admire about this release. ~ Alex Henderson
ALCHEMY THROUGH DREAMS is a unique ethereal ambient crossover of New Age/Electronica, Trip Hop, Tribal rhythms and Gothic elements.Mortal Loom's sound was developed over 10 years; this process included traveling around the world, listening to the environment, and sampling unusual organic sounds. Creating custom instrumentation is the root of Mortal Loom's style, resulting in this dreamy music that deserves repeated listening. Mortal Loom want, according to founding member Frederick Troy, to "touch people spiritually and open their minds to a journey that is kind to the soul, but at the same time mysterious and enchanting."Special guests include Norman Mayell of the historic 60's San Francisco band, Sopwith Camel, and vocalist Judy July. MORTAL LOOM parallels the traditions of successful Euro-US artists like Chris & Cosey, This Mortal Coil, David Sylvian, Dead Can Dance and Tangerine Dream. Comprised of a guild of international alchemical musicians, dreamers and visionaries, Mortal Loom have produced and remixed music over the last 15 years for many major labels ...

| | Ernestine Anderson Never Make Your Move To Soon (1980) Super Audio CD
Hellyeah CD music
$22.55 This is a hybrid Super Audio CD playable on both regular and Super Audio CD players.
The title cut of this near-classic album became a sort of theme song for Ernestine Anderson, but it is not the only high point. The singer sounds in top form on such fine material as "As Long As I Live," a touching "Old Folks," "My Shining Hour," and "Poor Butterfly." With fine assistance from pianist Monty ...
