A far cry from the band's inception as a one-man DJ remixer, Australia's The Berzerker return with ANIMOSITY, their second release since the band removed their masks (and the shroud of mystery that surrounded their identities). Elements of blistering gabba techno, industrial, and extreme metal are combined here to form a devastating aural sucker punch.Kerrang (Magazine) (p.47) - "[T]his is by far the strongest set of songs the Aussies have assembled to date..." | Animosity Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Their strongest album After World of Lies, most widely viewed as their weakest album, the Berzerker is back with Animosity. Here the spoken intros are no longer present and have been replaced with even more brutality. The drummachine is strained to the limit, the guitars faster and Kenny's voice (even) faster (and probably more damaged) than ever.
The songs are typically Berzerker: misanthropic, anti-religion and aggressive. Heavy riffs mixed with synthesized drums create an unique sound, complimenting the music (which somewhat resembles grind) well.
There is not a single boring song on this cd. It is 29 minutes of sonic assault and brutality, but is rather short for a cd in my opinion. The track Purgatory also feels like a filler, something made up hastily in an hour.
Despite this shortcoming I consider this to be their strongest release (yes, it is better than the Reawakening or Dissimulate, but just) because of the non-stop brutality and no-nonsense way of making music, which is the Berzerker.
Some songs to check out: Eye for an Eye, the Cancer, Lonely World, False Hope.

Animosity album
$12.95 This is the album that started it all for Twisted Sister. With the group's classic lineup complete and producer Pete Way (of UFO and Waysted fame) at the helm, TS put to wax its early club material and in the process came up with one of the greatest hard-rock debuts ever.
"What You Don't Know (Sure Can Hurt You)," with its hypercharged metal riff, has been the band's concert-opener for years. "Bad Boys (Of Rock 'n' Roll)" is a testosterone-fueled singalong with a great hook and lead guitar lick. "Shoot 'Em Down," which received some airplay upon release, features the furious riffs and anthemic qualities that would characterize much of the band's material through the years. "Destroyer" is as heavy as heavy gets, while the title track was singled out by Tipper Gore's P.M.R.C. for being about sado-masochism and bondage (in reality, it's about guitarist Eddie Ojeda's throat operation). "I'll Never Grow Up Now!" is a rebellious teen anthem of independence. UNDER THE BLADE is for all die-hard metal aficionados and for those fans only familiar with "We're Not Gonna Take It."
Principally recorded at The Barn, Kitchenham Farm, Ashburnham, England; I.C.C. Studios, Eastbourne, England; Maison Rouge, London, England.
Personnel: Dee Snider (vocals, background vocals); Eddie Ojeda (guitar, background vocals); "Fast" Eddie ...

| | Exodus Force Of Habit CD (1992) Bonus Track; Limited Edition; Mini LP Sleeve
Animosity songs
$11.39 All songs written by members of Exodus except "Bitch" (Jagger/Richards) and "Pump It Up" (Elvis Costello).
For Force Of Habit, Exodus slows the pace a notch, drops the guitars a register, and gives the thrash a little room to breathe. Still, the approach does allow for some melody, and the inclusion of a pair of uncharacteristic cover versions in The Rolling Stone's "Bitch" and Elvis Costello's "Pump It Up." Force Of Habit also features some interesting lyrical content. "Me, Myself and I" satirizes the "me generation;" "One Foot In The Grave" sets straight any notion that substance abuse is cool; "Architect Of Pain" is an 11-minute magnum opus tribute to the Marquis de Sade. ~ Roch Parisien

| | Various Artists Beginner's Guide To Bollywood Vol. 2 CDs (2006)
Animosity music CDs
$14.05 The Beginner's Guide To Bollywood 2' is another voyage through Hindi cinema, exploring music culled from the six decades since Indian independence in 1947. CD1 introduces us to the faintly ludicrous but hypnotically funky world of Bollywood Disco, plundering dance tracks from the late '70s and early '80s. CD2 goes back a few decades to explore big band rock 'n' roll tracks from Hindi films of the '50s, '60s and '70s. CD3 is a collection of much-loved kitsch and exotica - novelty tunes, comedy ditties and children's songs from Bollywood's golden age. You'll hear these shrill vocals, thunderous folk rhythms, crunchy guitars and ramshackle string sections blaring out ...

| | 31Knots Talk Like Blood CD (2005)
Animosity album
$10.69 The prog-sounding Portland outfit 31Knots employs punk and reggae influences in its pursuit of angular textures and disaffected lyrics. TALK LIKE BLOOD hits its stride about halfway through, with "Chain Reaction"'s perfect storm of prog and punk, while the band wears its smarts on its sleeve in the baroque-sounding "Proxy and Dominion." The blend of Gang Of Four-style dissonance, artsy cut-up techniques, and technical proficiency reaches its apotheosis in the title track, while "Untitled" is hissing, austere musique concrete.

$12.95 Their first international release brought this Finnish goth band to world attention with its unapologetically guitar-centered sound, which conjured memories of such 1980s predecessors as the Sisters of Mercy, the Mission, and the Cult. Though singer Jyrki 69's vocals follow the classic forbidding goth tradition, the band's sound is surprisingly ...
