Electric Blue SunElectric Blue Sun plays original music with a contemporary jazz sound that mixes the styles and elements of the more popular keyboard oriented cool jazz bands like David Benoit, the Yellow Jackets, The Crusaders, and Pat Metheny Group with a more electric guitar edge similar to bands like Chick Corea's Electric Band, Spyro Gyra, George Benson, and The Jeff Beck Group, but also keep their feet grounded with such jazz greats as Vince Guaraldi of Charlie Brown Christmas fame and Ramsey Lewis. The collaboration of musicians Buzz Rogowski on keyboards, Jeff Wittekind on guitar, and Bob Dickey on drums creates a chemistry condusive to this type of music, each adding their own unique chromosomes to the genetic fusion of this three-headed dragon. The music of Electric Blue Sun abounds with energy, pure musical energy; passionate, scintillating, powerful and uplifting. But there are also moments of calm, smooth, and contemplative energy after the charged particles of notes have orbited the solar system a few times. This jazz-rock trio continues to intrigue listeners of all ages with their unique eclectic style of music, weaving a vortex of warm blue electricity that can be heard in both inner and outer atmospheres. | | Rick Derringer Face To Face / If I Weren't So Romantic I'D Shoot You CD (2004)
Electric Blue Sun songs
$11.69 Wounded Bird's 2004 release of Rick Derringer's If I Weren't So Romantic, I'd Shoot You from 1978 and Face to Face from 1980 spotlights the decline of a steady if unspectacular rocker's recording career. If I Weren't So Romantic, I'd Shoot You is full of weak songs that barely get up the energy to rock, ballads that suffer from lame lyrics and thin vocals, and a general feeling of going through the motions. Only a few of the 11 songs show any signs of life; "EZ Action" is an Aerosmith knockoff that almost kicks into gear but is derailed by the silly lyrics, "Rocka Rolla" rides some jumpy riffing and a Bay City Rollers-style hook, and Derringer's cover of Warren Zevon's "Lawyers, Guns and Money" is faithful and features some fine guitar playing. These few stabs at something good can't overcome truly awful songs like the novelty rocker "Monomania," the pathetic title track, and the surprisingly tuneless and boring Chinn & Chapman-penned track "It Ain't Funny." The guitar breaks are about all the record has going for it, as Derringer could still let rip with a nasty solo from time to time. Face to Face isn't much better. The majority of the tracks are heavy, piano-led ballads that Derringer can't pull off due to his Twiggy-thin vocals. ...
| | Bill McGee This One's 4u CD (2002)
Electric Blue Sun album
$11.39 If you like smooth jazz featuring the Trumpet as the primary instrument with saxes and guitars then This One's 4U. If you're looking for excellently produced music with crystal clear sonic quality and professionally balanced mixes, This One's 4U. If you're looking for a variety of styles and moods, from latin jazz rhythms to soulful melodies, to silky ballads featuring dynamic female vocalists, then This One's 4U.This CD is truly a work of art from the soul of a very talented musician. The only question anyone trying to decide if they want to buy it is do you buy Smooth Jazz? If you're a Smooth Jazz fan then This One's 4U. Chieli Minucci called Bill McGee after receiving his copy and said "I'm really honored to have you re-record My Girl Sunday. The production is great and you have great chops Bill. If we're gigging in the same area I'll definitely call you up on stage - Thanks"Here's what Cedric James of KWJZ 98. 9 Seattle has to say:"Bill McGee's debut is an impressive coming out. The arrangements are clean and smooth. It's becomes apparent that Bill is no new comer to the business with regards to the performances on this disc. His version of the Minucci hit "My Girl Sunday" is excellent as is Nadia's Theme. The stand-out track is the title song, "This One's 4U". Congratulations Bill you're on your way sir!"Bill McGee says "My favorite is San Diego Sunset, it takes me to another place in time. I also really like People Make The World Go 'Round. LaLa is a really hip song that I wrote for my mother and I feel that I solo my best on This One's 4U... I got into the groove and couldn't stop... Over The Rainbow and Jesus Loves Me is a spiritual favorite because both songs mean a lot to me. Over The Rainbow is my secular favorite song of all time and Jesus Loves me is the way I feel. Day-Oh is a favorite because of it's complex brass layers and the way James Gates plays on this song. My Girl Sunday gets great reviews from everybody I know and James Holden really plays on that song... Over all I think the album is well worth the money. I've compared my CD to my favorite CD's by other artist and it stands up well to them all, it's clean and the performances are great. If you like Smooth Jazz buy it, I think you'll like it. God Bless" - Bill McGeeBill McGee was born in Richmond, Virginia, raised in Brooklyn, New York, Petersburg, Virginia, Jefferson City, Missouri, and Atlanta, Ga. It was in Atlanta that he began to study music ...

| | Gerald Holden Fearless CD (2006)
Electric Blue Sun music CDs
$16.45 As a young child Gerald was constantly surrounded by various musical genres that would inadvertently influence his life. His father (once a classical trained trumpeter) would play recordings of everything ranging from Ray Charles to Motown to Mozart. His mother would take him to church every Sunday morning where he was baptized in the soulful melodies of foot stomping gospel music. But after church, he spent his Sunday afternoons with his father who also worked as a manager at Chances R, a popular Hyde Park restaurant during the early 1980's. Gerald would fall asleep to the masterful jazz sounds of Chicago's most distinguished jazz artists such as saxophonist Jimmy Ellis, pianist Jodie Christian, and bassist Bill Yancey. It was here that Gerald fell in love with the sultry tones of the saxophone. At the age of 9 Gerald began playing the saxophone in his grammar school concert band and would continue to play in school bands until graduating from high school. Although receiving ...
