[ ] Do not play tracks!: Review: I can spot a Flaming Lips influence a mile away. It's one ofthose skills you just develop after enough time in front of a stereo,obsessively listening to music. Not that it takes a lot of see theLip-shtick on this CD. While a lot of people would say that's a harshthing to say, I mean it with the most sincere fondness. Anyone whocan shoot for their sound and achieve it this well is doing more thanjust SOMETHING right. What, exactly, that something is I can't sayfor sure. The combination of guitar pedals, drugs, recordingequipment and record collections is definitely a huge factor, but inwhat combination, and under what circumstances, and how it synthesizesto the songs on this CD is probably impossible to say. All I know isthat mixed up in all of this is a desire to sound good, to writebeautiful songs, and to let people know that they're taking their cuesfrom some talented folks all the while. The final track is a gratuitous 15 minute bizzare song that sounds like it got chewed up..well, you just have to trust me and hear it for yourself..in all their weird approaches to music is an incredible desire to be original,fun and burn some ears. YEAH! The Pink Snowflakes were founded in the summer of 2001 by Andrew Rossi aka "Claude Dragonfly" out of an inspired ambition to create some interesting psychedelic laced noise pop rock. The music has an almost experimental amateurish element to it that seems to spin out of control, while holding itself intact with soaring sonic guitar sounds that flurry out and fill in the deepest voids of space. The Pink Snowflakes deliver deliciously simplistic weird songs with all the accessibility of a strong pop element, yet never ceasing to permeate the senses. There is always an underlying element in Andrew's songs that are upbeat and innocent but dark sarcasm lives within.
