June 1944: The clock is ticking. Nazis pose as U.S. physicians to convince amnesiac James Garner that he can unlock his memory by recalling his last assignment: planning for D-Day. A gripping WWII thriller in which Nazis capture an American spy and try to trick him into thinking that the war has ended.
Major Jefferson Pike has been sent on an intelligence assignment to Portugal. But once there, he is trapped and drugged by Germans, who take him to a remote hospital in the Black Forest.
There, psychiatrist Walter Gerber attempts to fool Pike into thinking that he's been suffering from amnesia for the past six years, and that the fighting has ceased. With this plot, the Germans hope to get the Major to reveal where and when the Allies will be mounting their D-Day campaign.
To pull off this deception, the Nazis convince Pike that the hospital is actually run by Americans -- a hoax that's easily accomplished because the entire staff speaks English.
Will Pike realize what's going on, or will he be duped into giving the Nazis the information they need? On the eve of the D-Day invasion an American intelligence officer in Portugal is captured by the Nazis. They brainwash him into believing that it's six years later so he'll reveal information about the invasion. Released theatrically in New York City January 28, 1965.
Shot in Panavision.

36 Hours Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Love this movie I saw this movie in l963 and thought it
one of the better war movies about
D-day. There are no war scenes but an
amazing psychological thriller with James
Garner, Eva Marie Saint and Cliff Robertson. You will love it. Submitted by peggyeeeee (Saugus, Ca., USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Suspense, intrigue, World War II theme I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It has a Hitchock flavor with its suspense. As I watched I wondered if it would be possible to obtain the information wanted by the means used, in a real life situation. The movie kept me involved and interested the whole time. I would recommend it to anyone who likes mysteries. Submitted by a reviewer (Cedar City, UT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
What a thriller of a movie After almost 40 years since I saw this movie, I remembered a bit of it today!
Something similar happened to me the other day that happened in this movie and I recalled it today. When I did,"36 Hours" and James Garner popped into my head.
What a pleasant surprise to remember a movie that was both thrilling and suspenceful. You need to see this film!

$16.89 The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins with Randy, desperate to be rid of Jewel, hiring a sleazy hitman, played by Michael Douglas in an outré toupee. His story of ...

$23.39 A film about "the children of Marx and Coca Cola" directed by the child of Brecht and Hollywood, MASCULINE-FEMININE is a touchstone in the career of Jean-Luc Godard, a window into the kinetic world of Paris in the 1960s, and a high point in the cinema of the French New Wave. It chronicles the love affair between Paul (Jean-Pierre Leaud), a young zealot with revolutionary leanings, and Madeleine (Chantal Goya), a fetching pop singer. Their relationship gradually breaks down as the two attempt ...
