Widescreen; English Soundtrack; French Soundtrack; 3" Mini Umd DVD Based on the classic Marvel Comics series, Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN deftly details the origin of the web-slinging superhero. When awkward New York City teenager Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) attends a class field trip to a laboratory, he gets bitten by a genetically altered spider while taking photos of his longtime crush, the lovely Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). Soon he discovers this bite has given him remarkable powers--heightened strength, dexterity, and awareness, along with the ability to cling to walls and shoot webs from his wrists. Hoping to win Mary Jane's heart using his new talents, Peter becomes distracted from home life with his doting Aunt May (Rosemary Harris) and Uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson), ultimately leading to tragedy--and his new role as the crime-fighting Spider-Man. Meanwhile Harry Osborn (Willem Dafoe), the industrialist father of Peter's friend Norman (James Franco), undergoes a transformation of his own, bringing about the creation of Spider-Man's arch-nemesis: The Green Goblin. In order to save his loved ones--and all of New York City--from the devastating force of the deluded Goblin, Spider-Man must take on the villain in a series of stunning battles.
By staying true to the essence of the comic book, Raimi accomplishes the rare feat of crafting a superhero movie with a real heart. Rather than focusing solely on action and explosions, SPIDER-MAN wisely shines the spotlight on the character of Peter Parker, played with perfect bewilderment by Maguire. The special effects, of course, are dazzling, but they are topped by an excellent cast that also includes the radiant Dunst, the menacing Dafoe, the brooding Franco, and the scene-stealing J.K. Simmons as Peter's tough-talking boss. (Raimi fans will notice cameos by the director's brother, Ted Raimi, and EVIL DEAD series star Bruce Campbell.) The result is a charming and amazingly entertaining film unafraid to combine CGI animation with sincere human emotion. Spiderman Collectors Gift Pack Delivers The Spiderman Collectors Gift Pack comes with prized collectibles that are sure to excite the most ardent Spiderman and Marvel Comics fan. In addition to the dual-pack DVD set, which includes exclusive interviews with Spiderman creator Stan Lee, you get a reprint of the Spiderman debut comic, a film cell picke by Sam Raimi, original auto graphed litho, all in one box. The movie captures every fan's giddy dream of seeing his favorite super-hero living and breathing, swinging and jumping, on the screen the way he imagined Spiderman would. I would have cast a true red-head as Mary Jane Watson instead of Kirsten Dunst. She should have been drop-dead gorgeous and extremely self-assured. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing. I can't wait for the next one. Submitted by a reviewer (Roselle, IL, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful. This review is for a different format.
Toby as Spiderman? That was unbelievible!!!
Peter Parker is nurded out in this dufuss portrayal.
The big sceen at the end, on the Roosevelt Island Tram in New York City) was a direct rip off of Stallones Nighthawks.
I didn't like Pop Parker getting knocked off in the film either.
It was a downer.

$11.19 Tekken Tag Tournament is a lightning fast port of the arcade game that boasts a 20-fighter plus cast of characters and one of the most famous control methods in gaming -- one button per limb. In addition, it has evolved from a conventional one-to-one competition into a tag battle with two characters for each team. Gamers can even choose to play against three friends using a multi-tap, participate in a traditional two-player tournament, or hone their fighting skills against the computer. Other features for TTT include enhanced visuals over the arcade version and additional game modes.
It should come as no surprise that Tekken Tag Tournament will hit the shelves on PS2's opening day. It first appeared as a tech demo way back when - and damn, did it look good. And while the game may not look as convincingly realistic as it did back then, it still manages to impress. Its release is imminent and that's a good thing for anyone who has been patient enough to wait for the US launch. For the most part, gameplay remains untouched with a few tweaks here and there. Although TTT plays just like its arcade cousin, ...

$10.99 Sam Raimi's follow-up to SPIDER-MAN finds Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) struggling to balance his everyday life with his alter ego as the web-slinging superhero. Still carrying the burden of keeping his crime-fighting identity from those closest to him--including his longtime love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), his best friend Harry Osborn (James Franco), and his doting Aunt May (Rosemary Harris)--Parker must also face off against a dangerous new menace, Dr. Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina), a scientist driven mad by experiments involving powerful mechanical arms. When the deranged Octavius (AKA Doc Ock) forms an alliance with the vengeful Osborn, who blames Spider-Man for the death of his father, the wall-crawling hero is in for his biggest battle yet.
With SPIDER-MAN 2, Raimi retains--and improves on--all of the elements that made the first film so good, including an excellent story (crafted, in part, by acclaimed novelist Michael Chabon), tight pacing, and stunning special effects. Parker's internal conflicts are even greater than before, and ...

Spider-Man review
$9.79 The lovely Milla Jovovitch is back with a vengeance as amnesiac, genetically-altered zombie ass-kicker, Alice, in this sequel to the 2002 hit film, which is based on the video game. This time around the sinister Umbrella Corporation sends a team of investigators into their destroyed underground lab (the ground-zero of carnage in the previous film) and unwittingly unleash the still-staggering zombies and monsters out into the population of Raccoon City. Soon Umbrella has evacuated all of their own key employees and has shut everyone else inside to be devoured. A mastermind chemist's daughter gets left behind in the confusion, and she is the one ticket out for Alice and a handful of dwindling survivors, including the equally hot, skimpily dressed, and almost-as-tough lady cop, Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory). There's some nifty motorcycle riding, plenty of bullets and splattering blood, and even a new monster--the hulking, heavily-armored, seriously ugly Nemesis. Comic actor Mike Epps is great as a pimped-out hustler who handles the whole dead-coming-back-to-life thing with cool nonchalance. In some ways, this nonstop creep show is even an improvement over the original, with a pervasive mood of nihilistic corporate dehumanization adding extra concern about the future of civilization to the mix of shooting, dying, punching, and munching.
After narrowly escaping the horrors of the underground Hive facility Alice (Milla Jovovich) is quickly thrust back into a war raging above ground between the living and the Undead. As the city is locked down under quarantine Alice joins ...

$9.79 Known for making films about familial relationships, director Ang Lee surprised everyone with his martial arts epic CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON. Based on a novel by Wang Du Lu, CROUCHING TIGER starts with the revenge plot common in the wuxia stories that Lee loved as a child, then adds a feminist twist. Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun Fat) is a legendary martial artist who has decided to pass on his sword, the Green Destiny, to a friend. Soon afterward, the sword is stolen by a masked female, setting in motion events that test the bonds of family, love, duty, and sisterhood. Chow appears with three generations of female stars: Cheng Pei Pei, ...

Spider-Man movie DVD
$10.19 The episode that started the run of one of 2004-2005's most watched and critically acclaimed series is presented her in its full, unedited form. Created by successful television producer J.J. Abrams (FELICITY, ALIAS), LOST attracted a huge following and was proclaimed the saving grace of a television year otherwise marred by derivative reality programming. The story concerns the survivors of a terrible plane crash, who find themselves stranded on a tropical island with seemingly little chance of a rescue. Medical doctor Jack takes a position of leadership, helping to rally the survivors and prepare them for a period of difficulty as they learn how to survive on the paradisiacal island. But everything is not as it seems, as the island offers potential danger in the form of a large, mysterious creature, and evidence is found that the plane crash may not have been an accident. As they struggle to survive, ...

Spider-Man video
$10.65 Anyone who grew up in Southern California will talk with both nostalgia and frustration about the periodic summers of drought in which the oppressive heat is exacerbated by a shortage of its antidote--fresh water. In 1975, a clan of scruffy, rebellious teens found a way to turn this dearth to their advantage, using the sloping bowl of empty suburban swimming pools to create a new underground sport--skateboarding. The development, explosion, and corporate co-opting of this now ubiquitous sport was the subject of Stacy Peralta's acclaimed 2002 documentary, DOGTOWN AND Z-BOYS. Peralta, one of the original skaters who came to be known as the "Z-Boys," has penned this dramatized account of his own story, a kinetic and gripping tale with dramatic turns reflective of the extreme crests and falls of those concrete waves.
When a shipment of polyurethane wheels arrives at Venice Beach's Zephyr surf shop, the proprietor, Skip (Heath Ledger), puts together a team of roughly a dozen local layabouts to try his new idea. At lightning speed, the three most talented become international stars, infusing sexuality, danger, and ...

| | Are We Done Yet? (2007) Widescreen; Dubbed; Subtitled
Spider-Man DVD
$11.19 Rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube reprises his role as the Everyman-sports-fanatic Nick Persons of the road-trip slapstick comedy ARE WE THERE YET? (2005), evolving from bachelorhood to domesticated family-man in the hilarious home-improvement farce ARE WE DONE YET? Now married to Suzanne (Nia Long) and stepfather to her kids, Lindsey (Aleisha Allen) and Kevin (Phillip Bolden), Nick decides to change careers, selling his half of a sports memorabilia store to launch a sports magazine. Just as he is about to get things started he finds out that Suzanne is pregnant with twins! Already cramped in his small city apartment, he decides its time to move to the country, where he can raise his new family in more wide open spaces. They are charmed, and duped, by local realtor Chuck Mitchell Jr. (John C. McGinley), who also turns out to be the local inspector and general contractor, to purchase a beautiful mid-1800's house, a "fixer-upper" on sprawling property, complete with pond and guest house. But their dream home becomes a never-ending nightmarish endeavor, and between Suzanne's pregnancy, Nick's magazine launch, and adapting to the country life, it's not clear who will implode first, the house or the family.
Based on another RKO Radio Pictures film, MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE (1948), starring Cary Grant and Myrna Loy, ARE WE DONE YET? provides an entertaining look at how families cope, and eventually bond, through adversity, and the unexpected. Ice Cube (FRIDAY, BARBERSHOP) and McGinley (SCRUBS, OFFICE SPACE) have tremendous on-screen chemistry, even though their comedic styles are quite different, Cube with his pessimistic and grimacing double-take responses and McGinley with his overbearing energy and game-show-host grin. Despite all the tension, and some adult themes, ARE WE DONE YET? is a good, clean, fun-for-the-whole-family film.
After Nick Persons (Ice Cube) brings his new wife Suzanne (Nia ...
| | Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) Widescreen; Dubbed; Rated
Spider-Man movie DVD
$10.45 Somewhere between pitch-perfect parodies from Christopher Guest and Co. (such as THIS IS SPINAL TAP and A MIGHTY WIND) and slapstick spoofs (such as AIRPLANE and the NAKED GUN) resides the farcical biopic WALK HARD: THE DEWEY COX STORY. Taking the critically lauded Johnny Cash biopic WALK THE LINE as its most obvious inspiration, WALK HARD plows its way through every rock star cliché--from drug use and rampant sex to artistic self-indulgence and spiritual redemption--laying waste to all of them with unremitting blasts of brilliantly lowbrow comedy. Written by Judd Apatow and starring Jon C. Reilly in the title role, WALK HARD is a deliciously basic synthesis of any number of ponderous biographical narratives with the poetic raunchiness of Apatow films, such as SUPERBAD and KNOCKED UP, and the most lovably inane aspects of Reilly's role as Cal Naughton Jr. in TALLEDEGA NIGHTS. In fact, fans will have a blast spotting the endless array of cameos by the gifted comic actors who pepper all of those films, including Jonah Hill, Kristin Wiig, Ed Helms, and Jack McBrayer, among many others. Although Reilly (whose comedic chops are nearly on par with his skills as a dramatic player) is hilarious as the hapless rock-&-roll icon Cox, and Jenna Fischer is utterly charming and slyly multifaceted as Darlene Madison (June to Dewey's Johnny), it's the ensemble cast that makes the film so much fun. WALK HARD is the cinematic equivalent of a rock-&-roll jam session: a basic, yet entertaining and fairly interesting idea gets tossed into the creative arena and everyone gets a chance to play along, riff on the idea, and mug for the camera. Though it's certainly no masterwork, fans will relish the good times as much as the actors so clearly do.
One of the most iconic figures in rock history Dewey Cox had it all: the women (over 411 served) ...
