| | Dale Watson From The Cradle To The Grave CD Dale Watson Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Though Dale Watson still excels at honky-tonk, this 2007 album reveals an edgier side to his songwriting, with a Johnny Cash-like darkness lurking beneath the surface of songs like "Justice For All" and the stern "You Always Get What You Always Got," and the somber message of the title track undercutting its cheerful fiddle accompaniment. Watson can still rock with the best of them, though, and the album's final track, "Runaway Train," displays both singer and band at their extrovert best.

Dirty Linen (p.54) - "Watson seems to have been inspired as much by Cash's spirit as by his sound. The songs deal with soul-baring and weighty life and death issues." No Depression (p.83) - "Watson follows the footsteps of Cash and Haggard in exploring human balances, from the dichotomy of vengeance and forgiveness and regret transforming into antipathy, to the substance of the here and the hereafter." From The Cradle To The Grave CD music
$11.49 With his beetle brows, his occasional penchant for lyrics dealing with damnation and salvation, and his startlingly deep and resonant voice, you might be forgiven for mistaking Dale Watson for a honky tonk version of Nick Cave. Then again, the whole idea of a honky tonk version of Nick Cave is weird enough that maybe you wouldn't be forgiven after all. And besides, for all of his themes of ...

$12.55 HEART AND STONE BIO."In the midst of today's fascination with alternative music, it's nice to see that not every independent band is jumping onto the bandwagon. Heart and Stone CD release, Eternity, turns away from strumming and instead focuses on the intricate picking that is characteristic of hard rock and heavy metal music. The album as a whole ponders the question of existence. The bands name describes their music better than I ever could. Heart and Stone cannot only belt out solid rock tunes but they also do a good job with the more delicate, acoustic songs. If you like your rock hard, you'll love this release." -Lucy Cerone EYETALIAN MAGAZINE-96Heart and Stone is the next band who will undoubtedly shake things up like never before. The band proves that they can shred with the very best. Featuring the strong vocals and song writing abilities of Tony Anton, this album registers as a musical triumph. From what I've been told, this band is already enjoying a hugh amount of radio success with this particular disc. I'm not the least bit surprised, after seeing these guys in action a few weeks back, I was left with my jaw hanging down to the floor. Heart and Stone is without a doubt a band that give new meaning to the term "kick some ass". -Mark St. John SCORCHER MAGAZINE-95Producer, songwriter and singer Tony Anton originally formed Heart and Stone in the fall of 1989. During the next seven years Heart and Stone performed relentlessly both as opening acts and headliners to thousands of faithful fans. The energy and experience cultivated during this time was captured on the groups first CD entitled "Eternity". Eternity was ...
