| | Lorna Doom Diabolical CD Lorna Doom Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Although they have some punk and metal influences--the song "A Political Song For Beyonce To Sing" owes a titular and philosophical debt to punk godfathers the Minutemen--Lorna Doom are fundamentally a hip-hop crew in the manner of early Beastie Boys. Their debut, THE DIABOLICAL EP, is a smart, funny, politically engaging work that has a scrappy, old-school flavor. Opening track "Doom is in the Room" even samples a bit from Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock's "It Takes Two" for its main riff.
Lorna Doom: AJ, Lee (various instruments).
Additional personnel: Sara Lucas (vocals); Barry Deere (rap vocals); Jack Long (guitars); Art Middleton (acoustic guitar); Hirshikesh Hirkway (melodica); Ryan Seaton (saxophone); Chrissy Wolpert (keyboards); Iannottz (background vocals). | | Barry White All-Time Greatest Hits CD (1995)
Diabolical music CDs
$11.99 Barry White's ALL-TIME GREATEST HITS contains the original single versions of his classic solo hits, as well as two songs White performed as the lead vocalist of the Love Unlimited Orchestra. All tracks were previously released on the 20th Century Records label.
All tracks digitally remastered by Gary Mayo (Polygram Studios).
It took quite a while for a definitive Barry White compilation to hit the market, but All-Time Greatest Hits -- part of Mercury's Funk Essentials series -- finally filled the bill in 1995. Boasting a full 20 tracks from White's heyday of 1973-1978, more than half of which made the R&B Top Ten, All-Time Greatest Hits is easily the most generous single-disc White collection on the market. It includes the edited single versions, not the full-length album tracks, which actually makes for a more digestible introduction ...

Diabolical music CDs
$9.09 Released at a time when rap was mired in average lyrics and mediocre beats, Brand Nubian's ONE FOR ALL was the answer to the question: "Is the hip-hop hype dying down?" There were few groups taking over both the airwaves and the underground (markers for the music's progress and popularity), and this debut--featuring the talents of Grand Puba, Derek X (now known as Sadat X) and Lord Jamar--was hip-hop's equivalent of a shiny, new (-school) light.
With the teachings of ...

| | Francoise Hardy All Over The World CD (1995)
Diabolical album
$9.39 Several French stars attempted to cross over into broader international success by recording in English. Usually these failed due to clumsy pronunciation and disinterest in American and British markets. Francoise Hardy was more successful than most, both artistically and commercially. Her accent is slight and her phrasing accomplished on these English rerecordings of 18 of her most popular mid-'60s tunes. One of these, "All over the World," actually cracked the British Top 20 in 1965. And she actually managed to release several albums of English material in the States, though she never took off commercially. These performances are respectable, but you're still better off with the original French versions. Her native tongue lends itself better to her romantic and melodramatic melodies and arrangements, which remain distinctly French in spite of their liberal debts to American girl group pop and production. The backing tracks are unchanged or only slightly altered on these re-recordings; the CD remastering is a bit awkward, placing her voice way up front. ~ Richie Unterberger
Hardy recorded frequently in languages other than French, and this nifty compilation gathers twenty of her English, Italian, and German tracks from 1963-67. This is not a totally superfluous collectible: Hardy never cut five of the songs in French, so the versions on this disc are the only ones available. In addition, some of the re-recordings of songs originally released in French ...
