| | Disney Princess: The Ultimate Song Collection CD (2004)
Children's Partytime CD music
$10.09 Disney Princess The Ultimate Song Collection is one of the better ideas for a Disney compilation: it's a collection of most of the memorable songs sung by the princesses in films spanning Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to Pocahontas and Mulan. The album opens with "If You Can Dream," a new song featuring all of the vocal talents behind the princesses in the later Disney movies. Like most diva collaborations, it's less than the sum of its parts, with bland songwriting detracting from the performances of Jodi Benson (The Little Mermaid's Ariel), Lea Salonga (Aladdin's Jasmine and Mulan), Judy Kuhn (Pocahontas), and Paige O'Hara (Beauty and the Beast's Belle). However, the rest of the collection is strong, serving up memorable songs from latter-day Disney films like The Little Mermaid's "Part of Your World" and "Kiss the Girl" and The Lion King's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." Kuhn's performances of Pocahontas' "Just Around the Riverbend" and "Colors of the Wind" are also standouts due to her striking voice, which is stronger and more womanly than most of the other singers who have given their voices to Disney princesses. Happily, the love songs from the studio's classic films get their due as well: the purity and sweetness of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves' "Someday ...

Children's Partytime CD music
$9.85 Originally released as THE SHADOWS OF KNIGHT on Super K Records (6002).
The Shadows Of Knight were a raw Chicago punk blues powerhouse, the closest America ever came to its own version of the early Rolling Stones. Super K Productions were the folks who created the 1910 Fruitgum Company, the Ohio Express, the Rock And Roll Dubble Bubble Trading Card Company Of Philadelphia 1941, and of course, Captain Groovy And His Bubblegum Army. Yeah, weird, ain't it?
The Shadows Of Knight came to Super K Productions in 1969, four years after their classic hit version of Van Morrison's "Gloria," and were the only band Super K, a militantly singles-based company, ever recorded a full album with. The result is rawer than anything else ...
| | Hal Ketchum Sure Love CD (1992)
Children's Partytime music CDs
$5.65 All songs written or co-written by Hal Ketchum except "Mama Knows The Highway" and "Ghost Town" (Pete Wasner/Charles John Quarto), and "Softer Than A Whisper" (Pat Alger/Austin Cunningham).
Ketchum was surprised by the success of his major-label debut, and he followed up with a slicker, peppier album. The melodies are stout, and he's at his best on the working-class tributes "Mama Knows the Highway" and "Daddy's Oldsmobile." ~ Michael McCall
Recorded at Jack's Tracks Recording Studio, Nashville, Tennessee.
Personnel: Hal Ketchum (vocals, drums); Debbie Nims, Gary Burr, Keith Carper, Scott Neubert, Trisha Yearwood (vocals); Chris ...
