The uncompromising Vancouver punk rock band D.O.A. has been raising both consciousness and funds for a variety of righteous causes since its formation in 1978. Featuring both A- and B-sides, this compilation of the band's singles output over its three-decade existence includes its first E.P., "Disco Sucks," the 1983 release "Right to Be Wild," released to aid the defense of the Canadian political bombers the Squamish Five, and "Marijuana Motherfucker," an adaptation of David Peel's early-'70s song "Have a Marijuana." Though the last release on this collection is 1998's "Nervous Breakdown," the band was still releasing activist music well into the 21st century.

Founding members Adam Wolff and Larry Davis Vernec, from New York and Montreal respectively, have been playing jazz, blues, latin and funk for over 25 years. Both were influenced by a diverse group of musicians such as Herbie Hancock, John Scofield, Weather Report, James Brown, Thievery Corporation, Medeski, Martin and Wood and MeShell Ndegéocello. They invite guest artists to each performance, continually introducing fresh ideas and constantly pushing the boundaries of rhythm, harmony and melody.
