| | Animal Man I'll Laugh Once I'm Dead CD Animal Man Discography of CDs
This album was originally planned to fit on one CD and be finished by Halloween, but I got sucked into the habit of songwriting and it became difficult to stop. The songs came out so easily because of my intention to keep recurring themes such as the relationship between a mind and a heart. I hope that this album entertains you. I'll Laugh Once I'm Dead
$18.95 New England-based songwriter Jason Spooner discovered the family stereo at a very early age and never looked back. He attributes his musical roots to his father's secret stash of 8 track tapes. "My parents always stayed visibly hip when it came to the records they displayed publicly...disco in the 70's, pop in the 80's.", says Jason. "It was finding my dad's collection of tunes early on that really set me off on the right foot." Whether it was the intricate songsmanship of Jim Croce and early Van Morrison or the heart-felt soul of Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, Jason began to absorb a variety of styles and influences. "If I'd stuck to the Bee Gee's records that my parents kept out for house guests to peruse", imagines Jason, "things may have been very different...scarily different."Jason was naturally drawn to the acoustic guitar and began writing and performing at local coffee houses in his teens. His unique chops began to take shape during a year in Europe living in London, England and then in Seville, Spain. In London, Jason became a regular at local folk and blues clubs throughout the city. It was here that he became known as a formidable songwriter known for smooth, soulful vocal delivery and engaging live performances. In Spain, Jason continued to perform in clubs, public squares and festivals. Deeply influenced by Andalucian flamenco and gypsy music, he developed a unique rhythmic playing style that continues to shine through as one of his trademarks today; "The Spanish players gave me a completely new vocabulary in terms of approaching the acoustic guitar. Their style incorporates a great deal of energy and capitalizes on the percussive elements of the instrument. So many songwriters do little more than strum...Spain is where I realized there was a lot more to it." After Europe, Jason produced ...

$11.39 In the loving confines of Saint Axl's Center for the Criminally Retarded, a bold new genre of music has been forged from the minds of men too brilliant to be out in public. It is called "Avant 'Tard."What is avant 'tard you say? Well, it is a movement so daring and grandiose, yet so utterly retarded that any other name is entirely ...

I'll Laugh Once I'm Dead
$15.15 "Jim's a poet, through and through. His songs are vignettes from the heart, observations from the mind."Jon Chandler / JMC Music Group"His style is pure Texas...."Pete Smith, Rock Pile/Country Music Roundup, Britain“Everything here exudes an air of authenticity...”Michael Roberts, WestwordOnstage or on-the-air, the soul of the southwest is vibrantly alive in the authentic artistry of Jim Stricklan. Like great paintings, Jim’s songs are vivid stories of life and love in his homeland - the Great American Southwest. A master storyteller of the airwaves, Jim’s warm baritone enhances the flow of his radio shows with sincerity and charm. Jim’s love of music as a teen led him down the twin paths of performance and radio that would feed each other to enrich his art for decades to come. While entertaining thousands of listeners as a radio personality in Denver, Houston, Shreveport and Austin, this self-taught guitarist of front rooms and back yards grew into the craft of performing songwriter in coffeehouses and clubs. Along the way, Jim won honors from national music trade journals, Westword’s “Best of Denver”, The Colorado Country Music Foundation and The Southern Songwriters Guild . His radio experience has enabled him to work with many great artists, including Charlie Daniels, Ray Benson, and Johnny Gimble. Jim has gained media stature and performing versatility by focusing his talent for creating the intimate musical moment. Prolific and colorful, Jim’s recording legacy began when he was featured on the 1976 KBPI Colorado Album. Significant airplay for his song No Resistance led to prominent club showcases. In Houston, Jim’s first studio album, the 1980 LP Whereabouts Unknown, helped launch his independent publishing company Front Room Music. Two country LP’s made in Denver and a cassette album recorded in Louisiana followed. In December 1986, his country single "Your Hiding Place" (West ...
