| | Aemmer / Clarke Bring The Blues CD Aemmer / Clarke Discography of CDs
While collaborating on The Cathouse Blues Band’s CD, Take It Downtown, Kurt Aemmer and Adrian Clarke discovered that they had a huge shared love of acoustic guitars, vocal harmonies, and styles of music beyond the blues. Aemmer, who had written all of the songs for the Take It Downtown CD, and several of the songs on the Cathouse Blues Band’s first CD, It seemed like a good idea at the time…, also discovered that besides being a world-class guitarist, Clarke is also a terrific singer and songwriter! The two of them decided to meet weekly to play acoustic guitars and sing harmonies on whatever songs in whatever musical styles they fancied. They were playing the music just for fun, including material from Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Van Morrison, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Lennon & McCartney, Django Reinhardt, not to mention songs they had written alone or together. Soon, word began to spread throughout Western Washington State that these two were doing some special things acoustically. No electric guitars… just two guys with complimentary voices and acoustic guitar styles. As the two had been primarily known for their performances within the context of The Cathouse Blues Band, regional blues venues began featuring their acoustic duo act, and asking them to open for the out-of-town known acts who came to Bellingham. In the summer of 2006 they opened shows for R&B notables Norton Buffalo & The Knockouts, Lydia Pense & Cold Blood, Larry McCray, and Roy Rogers. Though their live shows feature a full range of musical styles and genres, Aemmer & Clarke decided to produce their first CD together comprised of their favorite blues tunes from their acoustic act.The result was Bring the Blues!Kurt Aemmer & Adrian Clarke are slated to perform at the Mt. Baker Blues Festival in August 2007, both as an acoustic duo, and as part of The Cathouse Blues Band. $14.79 FLASHES IN THE DARKNESS includes a variety of genres: melodic piano ballads, folk, jazz, blues, rag time, rock and ethnic-funk. On this CD you'll experience how ancient timeless messages are presented in a timely, contemporary, deeply soulful manner. The lyrics run the gambit from poignantly touching, riviting, fun-loving to domestic humor: All resulting from a personal spiritual journey that can be shared by all.You won't remain unaffected by this multifaceted CD which incorporates creative, expressive vocals.FLASHES IN THE DARKNESS, AN INSPIRING MUSICAL ODYSSEYAbout the artist: Talia Applebaum came to Israel many moons ago for a "short"visit and has been flourishing there ever since. At the age of 18 she made a pivotal turn in her life and returned to the ways of her Forefathers and Mothers. Influenced by outstanding vocalists Neshama Carlebach and Nina Storey, Talia’s unique sound reveals deep spiritual dimensions within her voice. Potent and playful, Talia’s voice emerges from the depths of the soul with a rawness and honesty --inspired by the blues-- that is simply refreshing. In addition to singing, Talia has had her writing published in various newspapers, magazines and anthologies.REVIEWSQuotes from The Jerusalem Post review: "Talia is a Breslov Hassidic matriarch. The album's songs concern themselves with Applebaum's lifestyle and her religious devotion.""Urging us to "Communicate / At the cheapest rate / With the One above," "Turbulent Times" sports some upbeat and pleasant vocals."The disc closes with a pair of deeper cuts that take things down a different path. "The Task" and "Sing a New Song" have a driven, almost tribal feel, with the latter's repeated chanting spiraling off into secondary melodies that flow into each other.Flashes in the Darkness CD Talia Applebaum – Jewish PressReview by Rosally SaltsmanOriginal religious Jewish music has entered its second generation inspiring listeners while entertaining them; speaking to their hearts and souls through song. Bring The Blues
$15.05 We chose Snapshot as the name for this collection of song recordings because, like every family album snapshot, this CD captures and preserves a particular moment in time -- a kind of sonic photograph of my style of playing jazz trombone, circa 2004-2005. "What a marvelous record this is, a spellbinder from start to finish..." -Geoff Chapman, National Jazz Critic for the Toronto Star, August 4th, 2005 "No matter how virtuosic his solos get, what comes across most stronglyis the clarity of his melodic ideas." -J.D. Considine, Toronto Globe & Mail "It's seldom obvious that what he's doing is spectacularly difficult." -J.D. Considine, Toronto Globe & MailBio Born in Toronto, Canada, trombonist Russ Little was raised on the island of Jamaica for the first few years of his life before moving back to Canada to attend Malvern Collegiate Institute ...
| | Shane & The Money Makers Leopard Skin Print CD (2007)
Bring The Blues
$10.15 By 2002 The Money Makers were in full swing and top form. Working 4-5 nights a week will make you tight in a hurry. I met Jack Trice about 2001. Since then he has become my writer partner and great friend. When we first started collaborating, Jack and I wrote 3 times a week for about a year. The best of that time period ending up on LSP. This CD took a long time to make. When the studio is in your house you are never happy. Q-ball laid down the drums with me singing and playing rhythm. Then with the extensive help of Jack Trice producing and Lenny Grasso on bass and harmony vocals I finished it up about a year later. This is my favorite Money Makers CD so far. It took a while but it was worth it. The song “$40 Gigs $50 Tab” which I wrote with Kenneth Wright helped get us more airplay. Some of my other favorites are "100% Chance of Rain", "Lay it Down", and the title cut "Leopard Skin Print".
