Second Release by Milwaukee-based studio duo (Mike Link/keys,electronics & programming, Harvey Taylor/trumpet), with guest artists (Holly Haebig/flute & vocal, Michael Sullivan/guitar, Perry Lee/guitar, Tim Taylor/guitar, Glenn Asch/violin & viola and Julio Pabon/didgeridoo)...groove-based tunes with trumpet improvisations, etc, fusing a jazz/blues approach to contemporary electronica...World music influences combine for an eclectic mix.______________________________________________________________from the Milwaukee Shepherd-ExpressThe latest offering from Milwaukee's Mike Link and Harvey Taylor offers a serious dose of world fusion music. One of the standouts, "Silvery Swirl," opens with sitar and tabla, picking up flute, trumpet and heavy bass and drum programming as it goes, creating a feel that combines traditional Indian flavors with jazz and house music. The overall vibe of the CD is at times reminiscent of some of Bill Laswell's experiments with Tabla Beat Science and Material, but Beat Elemental's take is decidedly original and groove-heavy. Harvey Taylor's trumpet soars through Mike Link's digital beatscapes beautifully, and a stellar list of guests added to the mix doesn't hurt either. The Milwaukee Symphony's Glenn Asch sits in on violin, as do guitarist Michael Sullivan and Holly Haebig of One Drum and De La Buena. Beat Elementals music CDs
$16.45 You don't have to be old and gray to have stories to tell from your life. In Miranda Townsend's case, at 16, she has plenty of stories to tell.Ever since Miranda Townsend was very little, she has been destined for a career in music. Her mother always told her that she was singing before she was even able to talk.At the tender age of eight, she joined the adult choir at Buckhall United Methodist Church and was singing solos even then! Opportunities soon sprang up to sing at weddings, church and school functions, and later college, semi-pro, and pro sporting events.Vocal lessons followed, as she began to feel that her interests were in Country Music."I just find Country Music meaningful and think the lyrics are easy to relate to. I've always enjoyed songs that easily expressed the feelings so many people feel everyday".At the age of 15, she took a trip to Nashville in hopes of being able to create an album that would have a country feeling with inspirational lyrics. She wanted to have a hand in writing songs that she could relate to, and sing from her heart. It was in Nashville that she would hook up with producer and songwriter Eric Copeland of Creative Soul Records. They quickly began writing songs drawn from her heart and the life experiences of her family. The result is a ten song collection called "Stories From My Life", Miranda's debut release on Creative Soul Records. It features a who's who of Nashville's finest, including guitarist Jon Willis (Kenny Chesney), guitarist Tom Hemby (Rob Thomas, Faith Hill, Barry Manilow), ...
