Tenebrous Mitchell is the coming together of British post-rock outfit Tenebrous (aka Tenebrous Liar) with Scottish poet and spoken word artist Gerry Mitchell. An odd but deeply affecting blend of spooky atmospherics and Mitchell's heavily accented spoken vocals, THE HAVERING takes multiple listens to absorb, but the cumulative effect is overpowering. Echoes of Mogwai, the Arab Strap, and even Scottish comic poet Ivor Cutler hang over THE HAVERING, but songs such as the brief, quiet "Hawkers Heart" and the howling "Sludgebound" are utterly unique.

Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star.
