| | Jack Brown Live From Left Of Center CD Jack Brown Discography of CDs
Jack grew up in and around Gulfport, Mississippi -- one of those places that's been in the news a lot since Hurricane Katrina. More about that elsewhere on his web site, jackbrownmusic . Jack's musical style is a hodgepodge of the New Orleans sound he grew up next to, the blues he grew up south of, and the Buffett beach sound he grew up inside of. He writes songs of life, love, and a little politics too. His sound has been described as a cross between James Taylor and Jimmy Buffett and Pete Seeger, with a dash of jazz and blues and politics thrown in. He graduated from Gulfport High in 1981, Mississippi College (B. Mus. Ed. ) in 1986, and Cal. State Long Beach (M.A. Musicology) in 1997. Since Gulfport he's lived in Jackson, MS; Dallas, TX; Nashville, TN; Long Beach and Torrance, CA; and now Meridian, ID, just outside of Boise, for the past 10-1/2 years. He spends most of my time directing choirs and teaching advanced guitar at Meridian High, the oldest of four (soon to be five) high schools in Meridian. But he also teaches private guitar, directs the adult choir at First Congregational United Church of Christ, and plays solo and group gigs all over the place. His son Kevin (age 12) is the delight of his life. He's into science, musical theatre, Star Trek, Runescape, and hanging with his friends. Live From Left Of Center songs
$18.99 "I started playing guitar when I was ten years old, I was the biggest Kiss freak in the world. I just had to get a guitar so I could be Ace!", says Barry Sparks of his start in music.Playing bass kicked in soon after, because he didn't want my brother Kevin to be a "Rock Star" without him! Geddy Lee and Chris Squire were now his new heroes. In 1989, Barry moved from Tucson to Los Angeles. The whole "L.A." scene was just kinda dying out, but he managed to hook up with Yngwie Malmsteen in 1994 and tour for his album "The Seventh Sign". The following year fans would see him playing bass on "Magnum Opus" with Yngwie and hit the road again. "Those were great times for me! I was finally doing what I always wanted to do! Riding on a tour bus and playing Rock and Roll.", he explains. In early '96, he joined The Michael Schenker Group. Michael was Barry's favorite guitarist as a kid and remembers trying not to look too "excited" at those first few rehearsals, but remembers failing miserably. He had rock n roll smile-itis. "I had a goofy grin on my face the whole time. We recorded a great underrated album called "Written In The Sand", an album ...

$11.15 WELCOME TO YOUR NEW FAVORITE CD!!!!Jen Crumbacher has been making music her whole life, having grown up in a large musical family in Washington State and later in New Mexico. Her folk roots were established early on by her Dad, who was her first guitar teacher , but she has studied and loved different styles of music throughout her life, including jazz, gospel, bluegrass and classical. Although Jen plays a number of instruments, including guitar, her primary instrument is her amazing, angelic voice...it is a voice that has a mesmerizing effect on listeners, drawing them into her world of rich emotions, tender truths and subtle playfulness. Having walked away from a full scholarship at New Mexico State University, where she was majoring in classical vocal training, Jen eventually moved to California in 1995 (at age 24) and continued her musical path in a variety of styles, including choral singing, a cappella (world music, jazz, pop), folk and bluegrass...participating in several recordings along the way (arranging, singing back up and lead vocals, and playing guitar) and continuing to gain musical maturity, her own unique style of songwriting and delivery, and many talented musical friends and contacts in northern California.Jen's first solo recording, "Every Sweet Surprise", brings together some of those brilliantly talented players for a stunning debut...this rootsy blend of Americana, folkgrass, acoustic swing and folk-pop is a lush, irresistible collection that will stay in your CD player for months! Each new song truly is a sweet surprise as Jen takes you on a journey that effortlessly glides from one style to the next, even including one a cappella song that will have you grinning from ear to ear. Equally at home singing swing, pop, Scottish ballads, and folkgrass, this artist's command of her voice and joy in using it come across with a graceful, beautiful strength. The collection includes seven gorgeous originals and a sprinkling of favorite covers, giving us a true sampling of this artist's ...
