BEST DAMN THING is the third full-length from pop chart upstart Avril Lavigne and shows the artist has lost none of the cheeky, bratty rock edge that put the singer on the map. The album's lead-off single, "Girlfriend," a bouncy pop-punk romp driven by pell-mell energy and a naggingly catchy chorus, is a case in point. "Girlfriend" kicks off the 12-song set with a bang, telling the listener in no uncertain terms that the album is going to be a fast, fun, high-octane ride.
Whereas Lavigne's sophomore release, UNDER MY SKIN, showed a more reflective side of the singer, BEST DAMN THING doesn't waste time navel-gazing or brooding about relationships gone wrong. Instead the album revels in punchy, uncomplicated pop delivered with a teenaged sneer (and a few well-placed curse words to keep the parents on their toes). Lavigne still seems a ways off from fully exploring her "mature" side, but this batch of energetic tunes is all the better for it. The best teen pop thrives on good hooks and youthful, devil-may-care attitude, and that's exactly what Lavigne delivers.Spin (p.89) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Lavigne returns to the infectious hooks and mall-punk guitars that made her famous....Throughout, Lavigne spruces up her sound with pep-squad chants and funky hip-hop rhythms."

Wow Avril shows just how much she has matured and just how far she has come in this cd. She definately continues to get better and better every cd and on this one she has raised the bar even higher. Shes happy sassy to the point and she shows her soft side as well on this one. Fans of her will be suprised and impressed with this cd. If you liked her last cd's you are gonna love this one so what are you waiting for pick this one up you will not be disappointed.

Avril is good a whatever music she makes, but this album is absolutely AMAZING!

Save your money for Let Go... this one is a waste of time with Avril's arrogant rants of "I wear the pants!!" over and over in I Don't Have To Try, saying "She's so whatever" in Girlfriend, and the chorus of Runaway goes "I just want to scream and lose control". And F words mar several songs as well in the explicit versions of the album.

Bland
A step back from Let Go with its vulgar language and sounding like overprocessed junk we would hear from everyone else. Selling out, I'm afraid.

Avril Lavigne is the best damn thing people! She is such a very extremely talented artist. This album wasn't like her past ones but it rocks! I have the Bonus Track version with I Will Be! Her voice matured over her years! Great work Avril!
