| | Michael Buble Call Me Irresponsible: Special Edition CD Michael Buble Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Michael Buble ranks among the best of the contemporary crooners working in a classic pop-vocal style, and his 2007 album, CALL ME IRRESPONSIBLE, further refines his suave, smooth style. With its finger-snapping big band arrangements, the album has its share of homage to Frank and Dino, both obvious cornerstones of Buble's music. But this isn't merely a retro exercise; the tunes, the production, and the overall feel are decidedly contemporary.
Stylistically adventurous versions of songs by Eric Clapton, Leonard Cohen, and Willie Nelson keep things lively, while "Everything," a Buble original, is one of the album's highlights. Still, cuts like the lead-off track ("The Best Is Yet to Come") and the old chestnut "I've Got the World on a String" will give listeners looking for some elegant, back-in-the-day pizzazz exactly that.

Down Beat (p.76) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "This CD is best when Buble wraps himself around the brass and reeds of a straight-up big band....John Hamilton and David Foster also provide a few high spots." JazzTimes (p.91) - "[Buble] suggests the caramel-smooth creaminess of Steve Lawrence, the sensual warmth of Vic Damone, the swingin' bravura of Dean Martin and the boyish showmanship of Wayne Newton." smooth and relaxing to listen too. Being a senior citizen and familiar with the older songs that I grew up with, brings back alot of memories.
Very enjoyable and well worth purchasing.

He just gets better and better This is a must-have for Buble' fans. His voice, phrasing, and style, while still largely derivative, are beginning to have a "Buble' sound." That is to say, he is maturing as a singer and beginning to come into his own. He is not Sinatra, nor is he Paul Anka or Bobby Darrin--which is a good thing. Every great artist--musical or otherwise--pays homage to fellow greats by adopting certain elements of his / her mentors' styles. Michael has the rare ability to glean from the best and still remain an original--much like Diana Krall. Kudos to all those who are helping to keep the Great American Songbook of standards alive. Well done! Submitted by deebsfire (Bellingham, WA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The best is yet to come. This third c.d of Buble's is the best one yet. It's amazing how much range he has with the songs he performs.I particularly liked his version of Wonderful Tonight.I daresay it was better than Clapton's original version. All in all, each c.d he comes out with is better than the last and I hope he keeps the music coming! Even though the first disc of this two-CD set is a combination of both the Revelation and 2 Ozs of Plastic With a Hole in the Middle albums, it's still considered a definitive collection, since it wholly captures Man's free-spirited feel. Call Me Irresponsible: Special Edition album
$10.49 CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR is pop outfit Texas' sixth album. Released in 2003, it features songs like "Carnival Girl" and "Broken".
Texas took a bit of time to deliver the follow-up to Hush -- an indication that the group was either aware that some fans didn't feel the record was up to snuff, or an indication that the group wasn't quite sure where to go next, a theory bolstered by the appearance of a greatest-hits album -- a traditional measure for a band biding their time. When they finally did release their sixth album, Careful What You Wish For, in the fall of 2003, times had changed: they were no longer a shoo-in for the top of the U.K. charts, nor did they have a U.S. contract. Faced with this situation, the group crafted ...
