Tom Jones - This Is Tom Jones Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Tom Jones Rocks TJ's show was an excellent showcase for the huge rock talent of the day. One of his strengths as an artist was his versatility...you'll see that in his TV shows. He felt comfortable with the likes of Aretha, Janis, The Who, Little Richard, Stevie Wonder...it didn't matter. Of course, it was also a showcase for his own formidable talent. Any star who's endured 40 years in LV has done so for a reason...he's appealed to a wide range of music lovers for a long time. It's too bad his TV show didn't last longer...but, while he did it, it was the best of its genre. Submitted by misaege (Corva, Italy) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Finally!! Kudos to Time-Life All good things are said to come to an end...I guess that includes great things like the Tom Jones program of 1969 - 1971.
Cases in point are right here on DVD: Little Richard solo and in medley with Tom - voice and piano never better - all business! (Tom should have sung harmony, not in call-and-response mode, though). Aretha Franklin, also at a great point in her career, taking command on the stage in an apparent creative impulsive to leave the keys and rock next to Tom. There's Stevie Wonder - on drums! Wish Rock and Soul drummers would play like that today!
I hope more volumes of rock and soul stars follow, because the memories start flooding in of episodes with stars such as Jerry Lee Lewis.
(Though I'd be happy to have the Joey Heatherton and Judy Carne guest shots, too).
Note: Not all shows are complete - but baby, that is rock and roll. Enjoy!!! Submitted by Phil L. S. (NJ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
GREATEST POP SINGER EVER Anyone who disputes the fact that this man has no equal in the history of pop music, simply hasn't listened to Tom Jones. And oh what they have missed out on. When you truly have listened to Tom, you could only come away with the knowledge that you've heard a singer with the greatest range, power, soul, ear, rhythum, versatility and intonation that the world has ever heard. If it's not your opinion, then either your ear or you're common sense is suspect. Submitted by Marty Thompson (Westminster Md.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

$22.15 Harold Lloyd was an early comedic actor loved by audiences and highly respected within the moviemaking industry. Not a natural comic, but a great actor playing comedic parts, Lloyd developed a highly physical style, incorporating the element of fear into many of his scenes to heighten their impact. Before the days of special effects, he made use of perspective and camera tricks in highly innovative ways in order to create the illusion of danger. Many times more prolific than Buster Keaton or Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd ...
